Great atmosphere and character

Beautiful Old style beer hall. It's a great place to grab a bite to eat, drink their namesake beer and read a book.

Every beer hall in Brussels 9or Amsterdam, or pretty much anywhere else in Belgium, The Netherlands or Germany) will offer terrific beer in the appropriate glass. Most have a nice atmosphere. But La Mort Subite ("Sudden Death!") is special. I arrived at this spot from the airport to meet with a friend who was coming from Amsterdam. When we walked... More

Have been here few days ago looking for something to eat... Good choice of sandwiches and salads, but the point of force of this brasserie is of course beer! Have chosen a Mort Subite dark, and the choice was right! Waiters were nice and kind (was surprised to listen the waiter serving me speaking in a perfect Italian despite he... More

Fun stop for a quick drink! We sat outside at this fabulous pub, watching the world go buy. Young staff were very nice!

I really liked La Mort Subite. Great beer, good food, nice service, and way better than Delirium bar.

This is a very traditional beer hall with a large range of beers to tempt the taste buds. Just be a little wary of trying too many as the result might not be pretty Belgian beers are often very strong. Try the beer with a side order of cheese, literally a plate of cheese cubes with mustard and celery salt.... More

Timeless bar in the heart of Brussels - just through from galleries St Hubert - for a lunchtime beer or a relax with a paper or book there can be no finer bar. High ceilings, massive gilt mirrors, Mort Subite is a stunning bar that till echoes its fin de siècle prime. Along with Cirio this is my favourite of... More

Looking at the majority of reviews, I would have expected that this place would be better than half decent. One of the few times that I have been let down by Tripadvisor. The service that was provided by the waitress there was discriminatory. Somehow, the friendly switch was turned off when she came over to us. She became brusque and... More

Popped in here after a recommendation from a friend and were not disappointed. We had a small snack and sampled the peach beer. Staff were very friendly and service was good. A more refined way to sample Belgian beer than some of the other bars and restaurants on offer.

I call myself a beer lover and I was completely in love at this bar. The offerings were fantastic (but how could they not be, you're in Brussels!) and the scene is picturesque. Definitely end your night here with a quad and you'll be happy.
