Very pretty forest, I entered via the Rouge Cloître and got a bit lost, but it's a really beautiful place with plenty of well-trodden pathways. A bit of a trek to get there from Hermann-Debroux, but there is a tramstop right at the top of...More

The Sonian Forest is part of Europe's remaining primeval beech forest and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Gorgeous anytime of year, but especially in fall. I've spotted a giant owl one morning, a deer one evening, different kinds of squirls and birds.

The Sonian is called the green lung of Brussels. The forest stretches all the way from the city of Overijse, Sint-Genesius-Rode into Brussels Uccle towards Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. This is a perfect place to go for those long Sunday walks, - with or without our fluffy friends...More

Unlike the Bois de la Cambre, this is a huge forest, where one can walk for hours... listening to the birds, getting a breath of fresh air. Not many people use this Brussels' green gem. A good thing if you want to find some peace...More

While walking through the Sonian Forest, I couldn't believe I was just a couple of kilometres away from the busy, bustling inner city of Brussels. Somewhere I must've walked through a portal to a very different place! I reached the forest by taking tram 44...More

This is a great place to have a silent walk and immerse into the surroundings. Green surrounding with a water body. Hit with locals.

It is wider, but it does reach Brussels in different spots. There are very good bike tracks in it (total of 100 km) and the view are very beautiful. Not crowded at all even on the weekends. Plenty of space available for outdoor activities (biking,...More
