This is a great market to explore - definitely not aimed at tourists and full of local hustle and bustle. Great for browsing, or picking up a tasty treat or two - notable the Moroccan crepes if you’re up for the long wait. Definitely worth a wander on a Sunday

Sunday morning market right outside the Gate du Midi station.
It was extremely busy as well as many stalls selling just about anything you want.
Was great just to mooch around it seeing what's available to buy.
Shame there's no markets left in the UK

A great way to start your Sunday in Brussels: breakfast at the Marché du Midi. We had fantastic Moroccan crepes full of feta cheese, spicy olives and honey. Sugary mint tea for drinks... Absolutely delicious! After that just walk amongst the stands and marvel at all the vegetables, olives, meat, flowers etc... Very fun!

This is the ideal place to buy fruits and vegetables for the week if you live in Brussels or nearby. It is on Sunday morning, in front of the biggest train station of Brussels, the Midi Station.

The big Sunday morning (until 1 p.m.) ‘Marché du Midi’ around the ‘Gare du Midi’ railway station is not a tourist attraction. It’s just an ordinary, very busy street market mainly offering cheap clothes and foot ware, household items, fruit and vegetables and other food produce (cheese, olives, herbs, etc.), flowers and plants. Especially towards the end of the market or if you buy in large quantities rates may be lower than those of local shops or supermarkets. The market caters mainly, but not exclusively, to the large and diverse migrant population of Brussels. On sunny days, strolling about the Marché du Midi and the nearby flea market on Place du Jeu de Balle is a nice Sunday morning outing. Beware of pickpockets though.

This market serves the locals and in my humble opinion is not for tourists.
There are a number of stalls that have €1 only items and others that sell cheap clothes...something that can be found in any large town or city....

The market is located right in front of the Midi station. My friend found a nice pair of shoes which costs him only 10 Euros. If I understand correctly, I think the market is only open on Sunday. It's a nice walk from the market to Grand Place which took us only less than 20 minutes in a nice sunny day. Please see my photos and vote for me if you find this review helpful. Thank you very much!

I live in Brussels and visit the Midi Market regularly, every Sunday morning. Besides the wide variety of fruits and vegetables at affordable prices, one can also find there many other items useful in a home.
If you visit the Midi Market, the Moroccan pancake (Nsemen) is a must! Have it filled traditionally, with cheese, marinated olives and honey, together with a mint tea.
Although it is suitable for all types of visitors, it is a crowded and noisy place. The merchants do the advertising of the products at a loud voice, which makes the market animated but noisy.
Finding a parking space is quite difficult, the Metro being a good alternative.
Remember that it is only open on Sundays, up to 13:00.

Midi market is our weekly sunday morning experience. It offers a bit of everything (food and non food). We buy most of our fresh fruits and vegetables there - at unbeatable prices. As most of the fruit can be tasted we are always sure of good taste and quality.
The market is more peacefull before 11AM. Between 12.30 and 1.30 PM, just before closing time, the market really gets crowded and the prices of fruits and vegetables may go down even further.

This is a fantastic Sunday market right outside Midi Station – the whole market is huge but the food area behind the station is a must visit. Try the Moroccan crepes. These are flat breads with cream cheese and a choice of mixed olives, sun dried tomatoes or whatever else you what on it drizzled with honey. €2.50 a crepe.

Bring a bag to fill up with fresh fruit and veg and then if you're between trains jump back on the Eurostar.
