Overview
More
Vooruit is a vibrant live performing arts center located in a 100 years old monument in the heart of Ghent. Since 1982, we have been offering countless cultural events like concerts, podium performances, parties, book presentations, debates... Vooruit is a significant meeting place for a very diverse public. Contributing to this is our popular Cafe with patio, where anyone can come enjoy a (vegetarian) meal or drink, meet for a chat, or catch up on some work.

I didn't get to see a show, but I did stop for a beer at the bar. They have a great patio. It was almost too sunny to spend out on it when I was there, but there is some shade too.

Ended up spending a lot of time here! It became our base. It works at all times of day and night and is constantly busy with people of all ages having coffee, beers, reading papers or on their laptops. A proper community hub, which is...More

This wasn't on my list of things to see but I passed it when visiting elsewhere. It does not look the same as the photos on here as the two side steeples don't seem to be as high as in the photo. As a building...More

An old building very well renovated in the typical art deco style of the end of the 19th century....

Always interesting events going on! Good atmosphere, everyone is friendly, clean venue. Adds historic value to the city, even when there are no events happening that day. The cafe is always buzzing too.

If you ask most Ghentians they will recommend De Vooruit. It's a place where you will find a lot of the locals: artists, intellectuals, workers and especially students. If you are here in the summer, I would really recommend their open air cafe. It is...More
