Situated on the corner of Langemunt and Grootkanonplein, you are unlikely to miss it as you head for the Canal. Over 500 years old, it has stood in the same location for over 400 years. It has an interesting history and is painted in its...More

Located in a corner at the end of Langemunt shopping street and Vrijdag Markt the cannon immediately catches your eye. It's been in the same location for over 425yrs, weighs 12,500Kg, painted in it's original red colour and never been fired (no surprise as it...More

The story behind should be more interesting than the sight of this 12-ton canon. Anyway, it was easy to locate near the market square. Just took a picture and proceed to other spots of the city centre.

It's a huge (12 Ton) red iron cannon, but not much more... You can take a picture and go on your way.

One of the famous things to see in Ghent: the 'dulle griet' or translated: the angry woman. Nice story about this canon.

We passed this relic a number of times as it was close to our hotel. The story is better than the sight in some respects, apparently it only killed one person, who happened to be standing behind and firing it. It was never used in...More

Just a big, red canon. Stumbled upon it while walking around the city. Nothing spectacular actually.
