A nice and pretty centre with loads of potential, if the locals can be bothered to be civil and raise a smile. Have never felt so unwelcome in a city before.

We went to Ghent by train, just 30 mins from Brussels Central station. The train ticket was around 6 Euros one way (seniors ticket), not that expensive in comparison to the 3 Euros ticket Tram that took us to the Ghent city Centre. Arriving at...More

With historic sights at every corner and lovely views across the various waterways, the city centre had a lovely atmosphere. Very easy to walk around with lots of hidden gems. Thoroughly recommend

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this beautiful and atmospheric city. It`s really worth spending a few days here because there is so much to see, even though the city centre is quite compact. The main tourist office is the best we have ever visited!

It's a small town, with lots of café and restaurants. Few canals and churches around, too. It's a medieval town and on a sunny day, it has a lovely vibe. It's worth a half-day visit for any type of traveller: solo, couples or families.

I would probably give this a more favorable rating if it had not been walk to wall tourists. It was a nice day and I can see why tourists would visit, I was certainly one who wanted to take in the canals and the architecture....More

So much to see and such great history. Boat trips run regularly and the cafe culture is great. Plenty of shops and bars and an open market, which was small but interesting.

Ghent and Bruges have some similarities as quaint historic towns. Antwerp is a bit bigger but not as large as Brussels. Personally a shorter visit to Brussels and more time in Ghent and Bruges is the way I would go.
