The liveliest square in the heart of Leuven. During the day, you can enjoy some drinks on one of the many terraces. At evening, the ideal place the have a dinner or a drink to unwind after a tiring day. The longest bar in Europe with over 30 bars and restaurants. Also the place for a lot of (musical) events during the year.

When visiting Leuven do take the time to visit old market square, just off the main market square and home to a vast number of pubs and restaurants - actuazlly about the only address on the market that does not have a public terrace is...More

It was impossible to really enjoy of the obvious beauty of this large oblong square when we spent the afternoon in Leuven - for the very simple reason that there must have been in the vicinity of 2,000 people, mostly students, sitting in the sun...More

The Oude Markt is the square where most of Leuven's cafes are located. Alive and bustling during all times, it offers a nice opportunity to unwind next to a glass of true Belgian beer (or anything else for that matter). A quite international meeting point...More

It's busy, it's bustling, it's a touristy market square with cobble stones that'll make visitors' hearts skip a million beats. But is it unique? No. If you've seen one European market square, you've seen them all.

The old market is a historical centrepiece of Leuven. It was heavily damaged during WW I and immediately reconstructed in the old style. Now it is very popular with the young and said to be the longest beerdrinking counter in Belgium (or Europe) with almost...More

It feels like I was in the middle ages. The square was a good place to unwind and drink cold and hot drinks esp during summer. It was interesting to note that it is called the longest bar, yet it is not that long. Anyway,...More

We stop here each year to have drinks on a terrace. In particular at the 'hapje tapje' weekend, we love to watch the barman/women race. Very enjoyable with a good sphere.

There are a couple of nice places to have a drink and / or a meal. You are close to everything in the market square.
