This was our idea of a proper bar with lots of tempting ales to choose from. The clientele seemed to be enjoying their drinks, and the ambience was cosy and convivial. The friendly waiter brought small plates of cheese with every drink, time flew, and...More

At the end of a little alley just off the main square this place was recommended to us. It was a great recommendation as it was our favourite place for drinks in Bruges. It has a homely atmosphere and loads of beer to choose from....More

Tucked away down a very narrow alley this is a real authentic old fashioned bar. The beer selection is extremely varied and you receive a small snack of cheese to go with it.

Back in 2010, I went to De Garre and loved it - great beer, great local atmosphere, hidden away but very central. I returned there last weekend with a group of friends and it didn't fail to disappoint. It was much busier on this visit,...More

We read reviews first, so knew it was difficult to find. Even so, we circled it several times. But once found you can't understand how you missed it! A great experience and lovely atmosphere. The home brew is really, really good. Think it was 11%...More

Very pleasant stop in the middle of our second afternoon in Bruges. We had a break from our schedule with some Max and Gouda.

We tried to go in here for a drink and were turned away as unless you were seated at a table there was no serving. Bright lights and no atmosphere. Felt like being in someone's living room uninvited.

The evergreen “hidden-gem” of Brugge. Massive beer selection, hugely helpful advice in choosing your beer and all in a very historic, charismatic and interesting setting. If I had one small criticism - you can get some of those beer's cheaper, (and we did), in other...More

We stumbled across this place just off the square down an alley. Cosy bar to have a few beers (strong ones) and eat some cheese. You have to go here! Cherry beer was amazing and the staff very helpful recommending beer you may like. If...More

They generally give you cheese with every drink you order, there were some nice looking cured meats as well, high grade bar snacks, but don't expect a three course meal.
