The most important of Bruges' towers stands 83 metres tall. It houses, amongst other things, a carillon with 47 melodious bells. In the reception area, waiting visitors can discover all kinds of interesting information about the history and working of this unique world-heritage protected belfry. Those who take on the challenge of climbing the tower can pause for a breather on the way up in the old treasury, where the city's charters, seal and public funds were kept during the Middle Ages, and also at the level of the impressive clock or in the carillonneur's chamber. Finally, after a tiring 366 steps, your efforts will be rewarded with a breath-taking and unforgettable panoramic view of Bruges and her surroundings.

There is a lovely view from the top and several rooms on the way up to take a breather and learn more about the history of the Belfort. The Belfort is at the center of Bruges and the music can be heard from across the city every day so a visit to Bruges is not complete without a trip to... More

A relatively straight forward climb leads to great views over the city. We had clear blue skies so it was lovely. Some of the stairs are a bit steep/thin so be aware if you have a person who isn't keen. I found them fine as did most others. Quite a bit of squeezing past each other as those coming up... More

You may have to wait a little while but this building is well worth a visit. However, for some the climb could be difficult as the staircase does get a little narrow near the top. However, on the way up you'll experience the building and its history and once at the top have very good views around the city.

... If you are a large person, you may be uncomfortable heading up Belfort. The stairs are very winding, narrow, and two way! However, if you are comfortable with it all, great experience. Bit of a wait in line to get in, but worth the view.

OK, officially I am tight, but I felt that 10 euro's to go up the tower was a little steep, no pun intended. Ok 366 steps, quite steep and narrow so take your time and care, there are areas to stop fairly regularly on the way up. Probably not suitable for really young children or those with leg problems or... More

You can wait up to an hour to walk the 366 steps to the top- we waited until about 4:30 and queued for around 10 minutes. Lunch time is heaving, so avoid. It is a one in, one out rule so timing is important. Excellent views of the city and you have to stay for at least one ringing of... More

lovely views of Bruges, very tiring walking up all the stairs but worth it. Go early to avoid queues/lots of people, could be quite claustrophobic.

We arrived around 11.30 and waited around 45mins to start our climb. We paid 10 Euro per person which we feel is slightly over-priced for such a basic attraction. We walked to the first rest point then continue up to the 366th step which was extremely steep and narrows considerably the closer to the top you get. This attraction is... More
