just a pity it is not maintained well. An oasis in the centre of the town ! every year it gets a little worse, such a pity. You can,t even sit down anymore cause the bench is halved....

It was beautiful and so peaceful. I went a couple of times, just walking around. I enjoyed the bridge coming up and over into the area, and the river that was so close. It made the whole area nice.

This is in the grounds of an old convent which is reputed to be haunted. The convent holds a museum though we did not venture in.

Tranquil, beautiful, historic. Just a very pleasant place to walk around and see something you won't see anywhere else because the old almshouse is still a working place for retired women. It's very nice to see an appreciate that.

It is very nice area of the town, little houses with organized gardens. It is so calm and pretty, se we can feel that we are in a village from a fairy tale. It is perfect to cycle around this area.

The almshouses are within a walled garden, beautifully laid out - if in need of maintenance. Only one of the buildings appeared to be occupied - and it would be a shame for them to deteriorate further. I'm sure this won't be allowed to happen....More

Just a nice quiet place to explore. A little bit of history that would be a shame to miss. Well kept garden area surrounded by cute little almshouses, some still occupied although many seemed to be empty and although not derelict they were looking sad.

When I arrived at the De Vos Almshouse I was admiring its houses. They were so beautiful! Wow! The almshouses were quite popular during the Middle Ages in Bruges. Wealthy people as well as guilds supported these endeavors. Thanks to them, the poor could have...More

My wife and I stumbled upon these almshouses more or less by accident. It's well worth taking a look into the courtyard where the gardens appear to be well-tended, despite the fact that most of the houses did not appear to be occipied.
