Owing to the war devastation, the market square at the heart of Ypres is a meticulous rebuild. However, there still is charm, and the rebuild highlights the travesty of war destruction. The square is home to several noteworthy attractions, particularly the Cloth Hall, Nieuwerck and...More

This is a nice large public square. The In Flanders Fields Museum is there, as well as many cafes, restaurants and other shops. It is quite lovely and you can walk around or take a seat at a cafe and just watch the world go...More

Unfortunately, I don't feel the Cat and Mouse coaster ride and an undercover skating rink did this justice, as couldn't see the Square properly. Somehow, the fair and the Menin Gate at the top of the road was a bit surreal. In saying this, life...More

We were lucky to have visited when the town was celebrating New Year and they could not have made us more welcome. A wonderful community.

This is a beautiful square in the great traditions of Belgium. The buildings and architecture are truly impressive especially when floodlit at night.

A beautiful market square, rebuilt following its total devastation, home to the Cloth Hall and St Martin's Cathedral and lots of architectually authentic buildings. A thriving square with lots of history.

Plenty of great places to see, eat and drink in this area. Fantastic old buildings surrounded the square and the local people are very welcoming indeed. Loads to see and do so give it a try!

The square represents a marvellous work of restoration and it is well nigh impossible to believe that one hundred years ago this area was a wasteland of rubble.
