Interesting pplace to visit in Elvas. Not far from downtown in the way to Spain. Be careful because it is not open the whole day. Entrance fee 2 euros.

You can imagine how important this area was to Portugal when you see the fortifications in Elvas and the two forts on either side. Elvas is a must visit city.

Like the other fort, this one is also full of history across the ages. Recommend taking a guided visit as there are many secrets you wont find out just by walking around

I'm giving this a 4 not a 5 because the other star fort in Elvas is mind blowing.. Forte da Graça. All of Elvas is neat, 3 incredible fortresses and a huge aqueduct.. Forte de Santa Luzia is smaller and sort of pretty in comparison...More
