We came upon the store by accident, after taking a random street turn. We got curious and went in. So much fun! We spent close to an hour looking at all the very many clay caricatures. Some small, some big, all very intricate, funny, with little details that made them even

This was the highlight of our day trip to Evora, and we just came upon it by chance. It is jampacked with a village full of sculptures that will make you laugh out loud. We spent more time here than at any of the traditional sites of Evora. It was a welcome change from ruins

Hello SkyeMaia :) Thank you for your visit and lovely words. So nice of you... Barrística is our conventional name of the "Art in clay" wich includes not only "Pottery" but also "Figurative Modeling". "Galo de Barcelos" is one exemple of it as the Phalic pottery of Caldas da Rainha. The Traditional Figurative Crafts of Estremoz is anouther (recently Classified World Imaterial Heritage). These traditions are around for hundred of years. I'm one of the "Contemporary expressions" of this art form. I'm working on the translation of my Masters Degree (about it) and. will be happy to put it online in future, for you and all those interested. Thank you so much for your nice interest. All the best :)
