Overview
More
The temple, built in the first half of the first century AD. C., which as we can see today, it is completely surrounded by a portico more evident than was the forum of the Roman city, large square that stretched at its greatest extent, in the north-south direction and trace, in following archaeological work done in that area, we know that occupied all the space goes, roughly, the southern boundary of the garden to the Cathedral and the Palace of the Inquisition until Cadaval Palace. Rectangular in plan, with 25x15m, hexastilo (with six columns on its front) and periptero (with free speaker to involve the entire perimeter of the cell), was built in the Corinthian style with use of local materials, marble column bases and in capitals and granite structure of the podium, the pediments and entablature. A wrap it north, east and west in a tank signinum opus (lime mortar, sand and crushed pottery) created a water mirror certainly connected with the cult.

Well worth the visit and in good condition, this is a well placed monument to be visited in the middle of visiting the other great things in Evora. It’s great to see a monument of this sort anywhere but it’s a small building, worth admiring...More

The Roman temple (that is the remains) in Evora is the nicest part of the town we visited. It is quite picturesque especially in the evening. There is also a nice park with a view there...

Right next to the Pousada. Right in the middle of town. Not huge, but worth seeing. Try to see it at night when it is illuminated.

Diana’s Roman temple in Évora only pillars and base are standing. Easy access and free to public, on top of hill.

It was quite a treat to find the ruins of this Roman temple in the middle of Evora. The temple is similar to what you might find in Rome or Athens, on a smaller scale. The temple just adds to the interest of little Evora.

Whatever you see on the photos, is exactly what it looks like in real life. It's pretty at night when it is lit up. Not a major site but the whole area around it is rather small so might as well check it out.

Our archaeological group was visiting Evora after shortening the day's dig time an hour away. Our transport dropped us off here. One side, and two partial sides, remain, it's momentarily interesting, but that was about it for us. It's a free attraction, so why not...More
