You won’t find this in many tourist write ups, but I did read about it in a travel blog. I’m so glad I marked it on our map. This was a great little chapel to visit with beautiful tiles and paintings.

Be sure to drop a coin in the maintenance box on your way out.

Entrance to the church is free so we bought a set of postcards of the church as our donation to the brotherhood that maintains the place. Better than paying 1 euro to see the frescos of Casa Pintadas.

The church is run by the Santa Casa da Misericordia, a brotherhood that is dedicated to helping the poor, and has been in existence for more than 500 years. They have mass service only on Saturdays at 5:30 p.m.

The azulejos (blue and white tiles) are also found on both sides of the walls of the church although some are chipped and cracked.

Don't overlook this jewel box of a church. For its size you'll be more than dazzled. Mind the opening times and tailor your visit accordingly.

It is one of the most beautiful in Evora. Its construction started in 1554 and consists of a single room with an interesting collection of Baroque art. The bottom half of the side walls are lined with beautiful panels of blue and white tiles. The back wall is filled by a handmade wooden alter painted in gold. This is truly outstanding. Highly recommend.

Beautiful little church. Organize your walk from one thing to another to walk past this little church and see inside, it's worth it. Beautiful tile work and a lovely respite from busy streets.

One of the rich churches of Evora you shouldn't miss (and you have really a choice to visit churches in this town).
Take your time to admire the rich decoration of this church, if not a service is running. In this case, you should wate until it´s finished in respect of the ceremony.

We found it by mistake, you should make a point of visiting. The interior tiling is unique and beautiful, making this church the one you will remember when all the others have blended together in your memories.

I really wanted to visit here, however there appears to be major renovations taking place. I am not sure how long until open to the public again,
The only reason for my 1 rating.

I didn't know anything about this church but as soon as I entered it I realized why this is considered one of Evora's most important religious centers. The famous eye catching blue and white tiles, so typical of Portugal, make up the surfaces of the interior walls. There are baroque paintings and statuary throughout this 17th century church and the altar is of gilded gold. It's artistic richness is almost overwhelming.
