Golden Plains: Évora and Almendres Cromlech Shared Tour

6 reviews
The UNESCO-listed town of Evora is home to wonderfully preserved Roman structures, making it a top day trip destination from Lisbon—but it can be difficult to access without a car. This day trip from Lisbon removes the hassle from visiting Evora on a fully-planned day trip. All entrance fees and activities are included, plus the benefit of a guide to share information throughout the trip.

We visited the Forum on a whim and had a wonderful time. The exhibits were a mix of permanent and temporary, with several outstanding pieces and a thoughtful presentation of material. The space itself is modern and open, and contributes to the experience. Recommended.

We loved seeing the Painted Houses with fresco, garden and small chapel. This restored courthouse of the Inquisition included the Office of the Inquisitor and the Courtroom.

This is an example of a magnificent recovered historic building (used to be a Convent, a Court House, etc....), aimed to offer Culture, Art and Design to the world (Art Forum"museum") and, above all, for free, but with quality and care.

This is a terrific free modern art museum across from the Museu do Evora and the Se (Cathedral). It houses provocative contemporary art in grand 17th and 18th century dining rooms and the "Inquisitor's office." There is also a section highlighting student art and a small garden with remains of Renaissance frescoes.

Although it was only about 3 euro to visit this museum it was not worth the time or money. There was a modern art section - very poor and only a few exhibits. There wa nothing in English and when I asked the attendant what the place was originally built for he had no idea and could not speak english anyway. There was a silent film running that did not seem to be about much. It came across as a family trying to say they donated the most amount of money toward the building. There was a court room but not clearly marked.
