These walls hold so much history it is well worth looking for them and thinking about how they must have been years ago. Any relic of this age and importance is worth a visit.

The walls are well preserved. There are inner walls from the Roman period and the outer walls are medieval.

The walls surrounding Evora is pretty neat. If you are into history at all it is amazing see how the walls are integrated into the city's everyday life. I walked by one house where the side of the wall is the wall of a city....More

By examining the walls and where they go, what is built and how it all fits together, you get a better look at life long ago. What we use now is so technological - where here the beauty outlasts the needs. Romantic? Yes!

Very well kept. A jewel to be preserved. I advise you to go around the wall walking or by car to get an idea of it all. Visiting only the interior we have no idea of architectural beauty.

The walls have 4 entrance and cover 1.2 kms. Some part of the wall was built during the Roman period. These walls reminded me of the ones in Avila in Spain.

Evora city walls mark the historic part of the city, the reason why everyone visits this charming city. So many European cities have let their city walls fall into disrepair or abandoned them entirely. But, fortunately, not Evora. They are beautiful. They stand as historic...More
