Learnt about him in school Now I saw him He was hidden next to a castle Can see him from afar He should be in the main square Was nice to see Awesome

The statue itself isnt very spectacular, but if you know a little bit about the story of vasco da gama it's great. The way he looks out of the harbour to the ocean seems to wake the explorerspirits

Nice little statue next to the castle. Also get a fantastic view of Vasco da Gama beach and the Harbour and all of that for FREE!

We enjoyed walking this whole area the Castle is outstanding and the Vasco da Gama statue in front of the church is well presented.

Uneventful. It's in a hidden spot, hence not much visiting. Watch out for dog poop on the way and possible pick pocketers
