    Stunning
Started at Praia de Marinha which was stunning, the views were spectacular. Went down onto the beach and walked alone then started the hanging valleys at the top. Benagil from the top was excellent as have been in the cave which is a must if visiting the Algarve, but from the top was also beautiful. Some of the walk was quite hard in parts with some scrambling but well worth every minute, as the views along the way was spectacular. We walked all the way to Carvoeiro and had a well earned pint. This walk is a must for anyone visiting the area. Well signposted with the red and yellow pillars and some pit stops at Benagil and Algar Seco then Carvvoeiro. Was very very hot when we went so take loads of water, baseball hat and cover up t-shirt and good trainers. We saw some people with flipflops which is not advisable in this terrain. Overall quite breathtaking.

    My highlight of the Algarve
Wonderful views along this walk. Breath taking views of the cliffs for most of the length of it. Does the Algarve huge credit. It's a there-and-back 13km walk with 7 ascents and declines so helps if you're a good walker or reasonably fit to get the most out of the experience. Does get very hot towards mid day so worth setting off by 9 to done by lunch. Took us around 3 hours with only a couple of pit stops at local cafes to hydrate. It's described as moderate which is fair, there are a handful of places where the slope is steep and 2 instances where I used my hands to get down very steep or sandy inclines. If you're reasonably comfortable with walking that distance and enjoy coastal views I'd rate this walk as a must, easily my favourite thing we did in our week's visit to the Algarve.

Great walk along the cliff tops
Startng from the Marinha cliff top the views are immediate, both the brightly coloured high cliffs and the clear blue water of the Atlantic are sensational and already you know you are going to take far too many photos today. Every corner is a view point, aside the high cliffs what makes this part of the coast even more spectacular are the caves and blow holes where the roof of the cave has collapsed. We had already done the cliffs and caves by boat so walking along the cliff tops really complimented what we had already experienced as now we see this from above with boats and people below. The spectacular Benigal cave is amongst the days highlights, as was the very popular beach at Praia de Benigal, Praio do Carvahlo where you enter the beach via a set of stairs dug through the cliff face, the 1920 Alfanzina Lighthouse & the Ladrao Stack. The coastal section finishes at Praio de Vale Centianes but another 1.9km will see you arrive at another popular beach Praio do Carvoeiro here we enjoyed a couple of beers on the terrace at “BOTE” overlooking the beach. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous views, totally worthwhile, but NOT easy!
Okay, so I want to confirm that this is in fact a gorgeous hike and totally worthwhile. We didn’t have a huge chunk of time to do the whole thing (it takes like 3 hours one way I believe), so we actually walked halfway on two separate days, starting from each side. One thing I didn’t read in any of the other reviews - we felt the Praia da Marinha side was a MUCH easier start than the Carvoeiro side. We did the Carvoeiro side first and it started out with like 200+ stairs, then a short flat scenic outlook, and then we were scrambling. I’m moderately afraid of heights and was not liking this too much. Relatedly, there are some areas next to sinkholes or large cliffs with fences, but a lot of places that do not have safety barriers. The sign at the beginning here called it a moderate hike and I literally thought they were insane after doing the stretch we did. The views were still gorgeous though and overall I was happy we did it (obviously, since we did it again!) At any rate, we had a boat tour soon so we called it a day. The next day we started from the other end, which I think is where most people start. Here they have a parking lot that includes some ice cream and snack trucks and a scenic outlook right at the start. You can walk from this side for a decent chunk of time before getting into steep hills or scrambling. My only other complaint was that I think they could use more trail markers. Over time, a lot of people have trekked off the beaten path so there are times that there are what appear to be 2-4 different choices of which way to go, and due to the landscape you can’t really see which one to take. So sometimes we would climb up a challenging route only to see there was a much easier way, but it wasn’t marked. Overall, this was one of the best scenic views of our whole trip. It was really fun to do this and also do a boat tour, getting to see these stunning cliffs from both angles. However, I personally felt like the other reviews I read made is seem easier than I felt it was. I’m a relatively young and in shape person, and it was quite physical! But, there are definitely options to make it less demanding such as staying near the flatter area at the beginning. I would definitely encourage every traveler to go and check it out. I don’t think our trip to Portugal would have been complete without this experience!

An amazing hike and perfect in December
When I read that this is rated as one of the top hikes in Europe, I wondered if that was pushing it. It's not. It is spectacular. We hike regularly so did the full walk, and walked back too. It was long but very worth it. If you're not up for the full hike doing one way totally makes sense. But don't miss it. Truly beautiful coastline and a fun hike. Overall a medium hike. A few places you have to walk up or down on rocks. Fortunately most of the rocks are very grippy so you don't have to worry about sliding. Just be sure to watch for the yellow and red trail markers. It is easy to get off track. ne area that was annoyingly not clear is through this Bengali beach. Do not walk back up the road, even though that's what seems right. The trail continues on the stairs, either the ones at the bottom of the beach, or you can take the white stairs up that appear to go to a restaurant. Both connect to the trail, again keep an eye out for the yellow and red markers. There's also a handy restroom there that was clean and free. We saw dolphins along the way too, so keep an eye out.

Seven Hanging Valleys - Seven Kilometres of Views - BEAUTIFUL
This is a must do when in the Algarve region. I am so glad we decided to do this on our own. There is absolutely no reason to do this with a guide - the trail is extremely well marked. Even a few spots to go off trail into the beaches. We started at Praia de Marinha - did the full hike (one way) and decided to take an Uber back to our parked car. The views are spectacular, even on a cloudy day.

Must do hike if in the area.
We started on the east end of the trail and please note that parking is scarce. From the moment you start at this point you are amazed at the views and cannot take enough pictures. We did the complete walk to the west side, but the first leg was definitely our favorite. Researched before hand and it basically said the hike consisted of 3 sections. Finished and grab an Uber to take us back to our car, which was very reasonable and fast.

Incredible views of the ocean and amazing rock formations
Beautiful views around every turn. We took the part of the trail that begins in the parking lot adjacent to Secret Algave kayaking tours. The trip to that side was plenty of hiking after kayaking earlier. The views were incredible! At the end of that side you can descend to a beach to relax and catch some rays. There are also a couple of food stalls where you can get fresh fruit, sandwiches, snacks and drinks before you descend to the beach or before turning back on the trail. The restaurant at the bottom was closed so do your research before heading there to avoid the steep climb back up if you aren't staying at the beach.

Although there were a lot of people, and busy parking area, the views were spectacular and well worth the visit…. understandably, it’s very touristy, but for good reason!! The sea stacks, arches, sink holes, etc formed in the limestone cliffs are impressive. Whilst is is a walking trail of course; it’s really more of a gawking trail…. make sure your camera battery is fully charged, you’ll need it. Word of advice…. plan ahead if you are only walking one-way, doing half and return, or doing all and return…. it’s a hot walk in direct sun.

We only did the first part (about 1/3 of the trail) from the praia Marinha starting point. In total, this is about 7KM round trip hike with lots of elevation changes with no shade - bring plenty of water and plan your walk accordingly. The path is not paved and has lots of rocks - we saw people wearing everything from sandals to hiking boots, I would recommend going with whatever option makes you feel the most comfortable. There are few beaches/restaurants to stop off and cool down/refuel/hydrate. After taking seeing a lot of the highlights from the water, it was nice to be able to see those same viewpoints from land.

Very pleasant and easy hike with breathtaking views. We parked our car at Praia da Marinha. Starting early, we were able to catch the magical morning light.

The trail splits here and there, but mostly rejoins a bit further on. Simply look out for the red-yellow signs, and respect the red-yellow crosses as no-go areas. Given the low season, there were no facilities along the way, so we carried our own drinks and snacks.

At Benagil beach we made an intermediate stop to rent a kayak. We hoped to visit the cave and have it all to ourselves (yes, that is very well possible in winter), but unfortunately the sea was just a bit too rough for that. Instead, we jumped on a 30 minute boat tour to visit this and several other caves. Mind that new regulations do not allow any boats to drop you off at the Benagil cave beach.

We continued on to the Alfanzina lighthouse. The actual trail continues on a bit further, but haven taken plenty of time we were fully satisfied. From the lighthouse, we walked into the village and called an Uber taxi to take us back to our car at Marinha.

I find the Algarve beautiful and this particular section is breathtaking. The trail is right on top of the cliffs and there is unimpeded view of the ocean, skies and some beach resorts. Absolutely breathtaking!

Don’t miss out exploring the coves and beaches. Golden rocks and cliffs, turquoise blue waters, sandy beaches ... you might just want to stay forever.

Breathtaking hike for those wanting to do a bit more than lie Ona beautiful beach. The Algarve certainly has a lot to offer but this hike was simply out of this world. Fantastic views, it took us much longer to walk as we kept stopping to be wow’d by yet another area of outstanding beauty. Wear good hiking shoes and take water with you.. there are picnic areas if you wanted to stop half way for a spot of lunch.. Need to be reasonably fit. It took us 6.5 hours for a round trip with all the pit stops admiring the beautiful panoramas and dipping our toes in a few of the stunning beaches. Make sure you set off early so that you get back before it’s dark. A bonus sunset stop at the end was the cherry on top. Highly recommended. You may need a jacuzzi, sauna or a massage afterwards! Enjoy

We really enjoyed the views of the cliffs and the caves throughout the entire hike. We made it just past the light house before turning around. (all totaled about 3.5 hrs on the trail) Truth be told it was a good workout for our fairly in shape 61 year old butts. We arrived in the area of the trailhead about 1130 and had to park at an overflow lot about about a 15 min. walk to the start of the trail. Not sure how early you have to get there to get one of the 30 or so parking spots by the trail head. Bring sunscreen and water, we’d rate it a medium difficultly hike. Highly recommend for a great few hours in the Algarve.

If you are reasonably fit this is a must do! The views are incredible! It is quite hard going in places, some parts are quite steep but it is worth it. We didn't do the whole trail but took the bus from Carvoeiro to Carvalho, walked to Benagil (where we stopped for drink by the beach) and then walked the trail from there to Centianes beach. I had no idea how beautiful the Algarvian coast is!
