As in other places on the Portuguese coast, the sea advanced significantly over the sand. In addition to the area with sun loungers, there is no longer any sand! If you are not available to rent a sun lounger, I do not recommend this beach for sunbathing.

Visited this beach in April 2021. The restaurant was closed under renovation. I did not have any internet coverage in this beach. It is quite isolated. The Uber left me at a parking lot and then you have to walk for about 10 to 15 minutes through the nothingness. There is no road, no houses, nothing. Thankfully it was sunny so it was not so scary. The beach is beautiful but I prefered the Sao Rafael one, especially for solo travellers it is less isolated. And internet coverage is a must.

This beach was our favorite! The walk to it through the Hapimag was peaceful and scenic and then when you start the descent to the main beach the vista is amazing. Plenty of little coves to explore, and the sandy beach is clean and well maintained with two lifeguards. A great little cafe to sit and have a brew at too. Go, you won't regret it!

We have been to the Algarve many times and always try to find interesting shell beaches so this was a real find. We have been to San Rafael and Castelo beaches nearby but this beats them both. The sea is gently shelving and aquamarine at its edges. There is a strong undertow inshore and a belt of razor sharp shells but this is the Algarve and the only toddler friendly water is on the sand spit under the airport. My 12 year old loved it and was happy diving through the gentle waves and splashing in the shorebreak. My 7 year old was more cautious and wouldn't swim but was very happy playing at knee height in the waves. My eldest son was in heaven looking for shells. Because of the angle if the beach, there were really good unbroken specimens including tiny cowries, augurs, topshells, clams and scallops. I was very pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the beach. Inevitably there is always some idiot who's buried a piece of plastic or a napkin but compared to the long sand beaches (e.g. Garrao/ Falesia) this was pristine. Most of all, this is a classic Algarve beach with arches, three eroded coves and very charming sandstone flanking. There are many warning signs about the cliffs but we sat away from the edges and didn't feel crowded or hemmed in. There is indeed a walk to the beach but we like deterrents like this as it means less crowding and more self sufficient beachgoers (who take their rubbish with them!). If you want to see a true Algarve beach, not heavily crowded even in August, this is your best option.

This beach is stunning even in winter. We spent a long weekend staying nearby during January and this was our favourite walk. Most of the time we had the beach to ourselves, still warm enough to lay out on the sand, but the water was freezing. I'd definitely return off season.

what a wonderful relaxing beach and restaurant. Food as good as always. The family run restaurant is first class,so friendly and the food always fresh and tasty. The chicken kebabs were very tasty and the olives are the best in the Algarve. Keep up the good work and see you in 2015. xx

The small Rabbit Beach was a short walk from our hotel. We fell into the habit of going later in the day e.g. 5-7.30pm when not too busy (or hot). Great for snorkelling - although sea temperatures were far lower than we'd expected. Interesting cliffs and coves, seemed to be mainly Portuguese families on the beach. Had a drink at the bar, which seemed popular. Fresh fish in a cabinet outside.

No, soy de allí por lo que no conozco las carreteras, pero pienso que con un buen GPS o un móvil no tiene perdida.

Any nice accommodation recommended near here please and does anyone know if the beach cafe would still be open in October half term

Hi - I stayed at No. 26 Baia Village. It has one bedroom but can sleep 4 people (found this through HomeAway/Owners Direct), it's a lovely complex of holiday apartments, and has a pool and a large sun terrace. It's about a 15 minute walk from Praia da Coelha beach. There are bigger apartments if needed.
I have just looked at past tripadvisor reviews for Praia da Coelha for October time, and it looks like the beach café would still be open at this time.
Hope this helps a little, and enjoy your trip!
