This Cathedral was built on the site of former mosque in mid XIII century. It was set on fire by English troops, and was rebuilt in XVIII century. Medieval bell-tower with a beautiful views of the town and the coast.

Don't miss the cathedral and its museum when walking though the old town. Is is worth visiting. Make the climb on the tower and enjoy the view. The church itself is nice decorated.

Well worth the 3.5 euros The walk up to the bell tower gives you a beautiful panoramic view of the quaint city. Also a great lookout to spot the nesting stalks

Very fun. Walk around the gardens, look at the medieval architecture, and DEFINATELY go up the bell tower. The views are EXCEPTIONAL! It is a tight squeeze to walk up the steps, so you have to be patient. But WELL WORTH IT!!!

We visited on a windy day in Faro looking for indoor things to do! Our disabled mother in law very much struggled with the steps but the attendant was helpful and did not charge her as she could not access the bell tower or museum!...More

We visited the cathedral and have to say that it is a stunning place. Inside and out. You can also go up on to the roof top where the views are stunning. It’s about 3.50 euros to get in and it’s worth every penny.

Not much to look at on the outside...but worth going in. Beautiful alters in a series of naves...many with azulejos tiles.

I would recommend a visit here. €3.50 entry fee is really good value and you can spend as much time as you like browsing the museum and chaples. There is also an excellent walk up the bell tower and the views from there are priceless.

A ticket (3.5 euros) covers the entire site. Climbing the bell tower, which is not onerous, although the stairway is very narrow, is an absolute must as the views from the top are exceptional. The church itself is not too gothic and has some attractive...More

Spent a fair time here - viewing the cathedral, its museum and climbing the 68 steps to the top of the tower - a bit steep and uneven due to age but the views were worth it - all for €3.50

Sorry, there will be extra masses I am sure, but I don't know what they are. There are another couple of good churches, so I am sure you will find a Mass somewhere. The Tourist Information office may also be able to help... More
