I would prefer a more traditional statue ..... and I am sure that most Portuguese people would also. His body was never recovered from the battlefield ...... hence the many so called descendants who kept popping up to claim the Throne.

Nice sculpture, it is a good meeting point! It really could use an information placard around it explaining it's origin though!

This spot is a great meeting point, as someone else earlier mentioned in the reviews. Buzzing with town life, shops, restaurants, stalls, bars and street entertainment easily accessible from all directions around this sculpture! However the sculpture itself is not something you would go to...More

A great town square with wonderful sites and street performers. Shaded areas to relax in for free rest and people watching.

I thought to start with that it was a tailor's dummy on a plinth but looking closer it was much more substantial. Represential sculpture leaves me cold

A busy part of the shopping area, where you cross the road to the marina and the market stalls. If parking near here, make sure you buy a ticket, as the wardens are around all the time.

Seems a bit out of place to have a modern art sculpture in the old town square but somehow it works and if nothing else it is an attention grabber.
