Went here for a look round , very cheap entry fee , €2.80 or if you pay €3.80 you get entry to the museum down the road and a wine tasting at a small wine kiosk nearby . Well worth the small entry fee . Stunning views from the castle ramparts .While it's not an attraction that will keep you... More

Very well kept space around the ruins of the old castle. Nice to visit when visiting the area and you want to escape the crowd

Castle with long history and you couldt find any details of it. Only brochure what you get was discount for areas restaurants. I dont still understand why there was gartoon show and only in porugal language and same with animal show? Is those animals living in the area or what? Safety system are not well knowing there. Sad to see... More

Great place to visit. As you approach you will be walking up extremely steep cobblestone streets, Not for the fainthearted lol. But their are cafes at the top for a rest. Stunning views all around.

Whilst tempted to stay by the pool given the unseasonal hot temperatures, we were pleased we made the effort to visit both the town and more especially the castle. It has plenty to offer all of the family if you take the time to wander and read the background information. Yes, H&S does seem to have taken a 'back seat'... More

Visited the castle today as part of our historic Algarve day trip. It was very interesting and also offered some amazing views of the area. There was a lovely little cafe/bar inside the castle offering varied refreshments at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

The castle and Silves was recommended by our taxi driver. It cost us around 80 euros round trip from Salgados, but town and castle are well worth it. Wanted to see a typical sleepy town with cobbled hilly narrow streets, this was it!! The castle and views are breathtaking, entry was only 3.90 euros but you get discount for students... More

We could see the castle from our villa so we had to visit it. It is lovely around the battlements although what happened to health and safety. There were some dangerous drops with no barriers. They have been modernising the grounds which are all open. The battlements and a museum are all that is left, no rooms to see around.... More
