We didn't get good weather when we stopped by here, but we were still able to see how incredible it was. Parking lot on site, that I'm sure is usually full of rental cars and tour vans. There are hiking paths along the rim of...More

What an amazing walk! I kept saying to my wife on the day, "this is the most scenic hike I have ever done in my entire life" and I have traveled allot. The photos struggle to capture how beautiful the walk really was. The flowers...More

This place is truly the pinnacle of the Azores. On a sunny day you'll have the fantastic view over to Mount Pico at the same time as looking into the volcano crate. We went 3 times, as the first 2 times it was low clouds...More

We have been there and did the walking trail around the crater which took us 2.5 hours. The view is beautiful and almost like from an airplane. We suggest good shoes and dry weather. On rainy days the trail might be very slippery at some...More

We hiked around the caldeira on a sunny day and absolutely enjoyed the 360° view of Faial. The caldeira itself is overwhelmingly beautiful and the path leads you right along the edge giving you a nice view of the vegetation. The route was very quiet...More

We enjoyed a great view of the crater because we were fortunate to come on a clear sunny day. The walk around the crater rim is 6.5kms and you need to be fit. I would suggest good walking shoes, water and a snack if you...More

Great trail around the Caldeira. It is an easy trail. Beautiful view on the Faial island and the crater. We have been lucky no cloud during our trail.

When on Faial, the visit of the Caldeira area is an absolute must. You just need to be lucky with the weather. A thrilling walking path around the volcano takes around 2.5 to 3 hours (7 km) and shows you each side of the island...More

we were on Faial for 5 days, most of which was sunny everywhere but surrounding the Caldeira where the clouds persistently hung, and this was at the end of July! So be prepared to hike elsewhere on the island and driving along the north side,...More

The caldeira is beautiful! We walked down into it with guides. It is quite steep, overgrown in places, and not an easy walk if you aren't in good shape. Well worth it though. The views from the top are beautiful as well. Check the weather...More

I do not think it will be a big problem for someone with mild vertigo. The view point at the start of the trail is probably as close as you will come to looking down over the edge. Recommend you wear good shoes and bring a... More

You can see it all with Bruno from Toboga Azores! Look him up! He took us absolutely everywhere in one day on Faial ... Because that was all we had! It's worth it if you can get him! Best guide around and dirt cheap!
