A visit to the yacht harbor in Horta is a must. Tradition says that sailors must make a painting on the marina wall to insure their safe return. Anyone can make a painting and paint is available in local stores. The displays are quite interesting and well done. Some are works of art!…

The marina at Horta looks much like any other marina except for one thing - the sailors' art! While not professional, the paintings are earnest and give you a sense of how important sailing is to all who pass through.
