We tried to find this church with no luck, asked a local in the village and he didn’t recognise it. Seek advice before setting off!

One of the most unusual churches we've ever seen. The outside is covered in the famous blue Portuguese tiles. Built in the 1500's, it has withstood the test of time. There was a serious fire in the 70's but, it was carefully rebuilt. This is a must see when you visit this city.

This old 16th century parish church experienced numerous changes over the years and was seriously damaged in a terrible fire in 1971. All that remained was the bell tower. The rebuild was completed and re-dedicated in July 1977. Original photographs from the late 1800’s adorn the corridors. Although the interior no longer resembles the original structure, it is tastefully presented in a more modern style. Steel joist now support the ceilings and although fully exposed, they compliment the overall architectural design. The exterior still retains the warmth and appeal of the original.
