This is one of the most renowned tourist places in the Island, though It's not my favorite. Thermal springs, resorts and the beautiful Terra Nostra garden are worth a visit.
Wonderful place to be and see if you're a nature lover. Beautiful lake and surrondings. Must try and enjoy the local food; "Cozido das Furnas", Boilled vegetables and meats on a ground vulcanic crater.

The lake at Furnas is huge, the surrounding areas are green and lush and the miradouro on top offered some impressive views. Did not see much from the village as I was passing through, but the hot springs should also be given a try!
It's truly a unique experience to eat the traditional stew cooked underground in the hot earth. The views are out of this world. I just wish I had had time to bathe in the thermal springs, hopefully next time.
