My wife and I were told of this place while out hiking— we decided to check it out and immediately fell in love. We had some drinks, coffee, and dessert while we listened to an outstanding ensemble playing some old and new favorites. Amazing place. Frendly, welcoming great atmosphere, well thought-out interior design, great value, great jazz, service, snacks, drinks etc . I'm surprised this isnt promoted more.

Although the jazz groups was not spectacular, the place is magnificent. It is nicely decorated and it creates a great atmosphere. We had dinner which was nice and economic. You must try the cocktails they prepare, the are fantastic. Staff friendly and very helpful.

I always like to search out music venues when we travel, and we enjoyed our evening at Lava Jazz. They had a 10:30 show scheduled with local musicians, and it was really enjoyable. We had a bite to eat before the show (a platter of local cheeses and sausages) and a couple of drinks (the garnishes on the drinks are so pretty!), so it was a very nice evening. I appreciated the volume of the music – it wasn’t too loud. I don’t think there’s a lot of nightlife in Ponta Delgada, and this jazz bar definitely fills a need. Well worth a visit for some laid back Jazz. A small fee is chargd but the drinks are deducted so in fact very food value.
