Manuel was an amazing and knowledgeable guide that showed us a great time on this tour! He picked us up in Ponta Delgada and then we went to the Cha Gorreana tea plantation and Furnas. My girlfriend and I were looking for an engaging excursion with lunch (the local stew) from the Fumaroles in Furnas. We loved the tour and the food! Manuel was so helpful, as he also gave us dinner recommendations for that night and even took us to the airport a ew days later!

I did 2 solo hikes with the company and got lots of amazing and invaluable information about the island, nature, local vegetation and life. My first hike was to Faial da Terra and a lovely waterfall, followed by a delicious lunch at one of the cute seafood restaurants. Another was Lagoa do Fogo - one of the best hikes on the island. However, since I am a blogger and photographer, I was also interested in checking out local villages, a liqueur store, a town nearby, etc., and the owner's son was beyond accommodating and helpful.
You won't find friendlier people than those running BigBlue Adventures. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I had the pleasure of being invited by the owner of the company for "The Chef for a Day" experience. Evaristo, the most hospitable, warm and gracious host, took me to the local market early in the morning. Later, he opened his home to me, showing me how to prepare a local fish stew. We made it together in his kitchen and then drove to the fumaroles in Furnas to put it in the ground to cook for a few hours. During the cooking time, he took me on a lovely hike through Grena Park and even drove me to a nearby fishing village to show me the views.
We later feasted on his amazing fish cozido at a picnic table right by the lake. He even purchased some island cheeses, bread and incredible wine from Pico Island for me to enjoy. THE MOST UNUSAL AND WONDERFUL DAY IN GREAT COMPANY!
I also did 2 hiking tours with them and they were fantastic.
THIS COMPANY HAS MY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

Went on three different tours with Andre. All of them exceeded expectations. What a wonderful experience! When the weather didn't cooperate, Andre always had a back up plan that never ceased to amaze. Can't say enough good things about him, his depth of knowledge and this company. It really meant a lot to us that Andre was able to encourperate a short stop at my Mother's village, a place she hadn't been in about 65 yrs. He is part of our family now! Obrigad Andre and BigBlue!

The plantation is beautiful and the information regarding the process is educational. However, the experience only took around 15 minutes. There was no speaker or guide and the equipment was not running when we were there.

My husband and I were able to enjoy this amazing experience together with our fantastic guide Andre. Andre took us through the whole process from buying the food, preparing it, burying it, and enjoying an absolutely delicious meal. Thanks for letting us experience this local tradition. This is a full day with hiking, bathing in hot springs, and sight seeing. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting San Miguel!

The visit to the pineapple plantation was very nice and interesting. Then we went to see the blue and green lagoon, and the hell’s window, the kings view... Lots to see, beautiful panoramas, local flora.
My guide, André, made it very funny with lots of anecdotes, legends and stories.

BigBlue Adventures have their office in my hotel so I signed up for a tour and have now done another as they were so good. The guides treat you like family and obviously love the work they do and this stunning island. The tours took me to great lookouts and local businesses as well included good substantial lunches both days. Can't recommend them enough!

We did the one day tour of the Seven Cities and Fire Lagoon. Our guide was Manuel, who is extremely knowledgeable of the history of the Azores and the island of Sao Miguel. We had a very long day visiting many places and thoroughly enjoyed it all and the professionalism of Manuel.

Hello. We are arriving by cruise ship on Wed. 25 of Sept. We would like a private tour for four. We'd like to see the two crater lakes and swin in the thermal baths. We'd also like to have a traditinoal Azorean meal. Our Celebrity cruise ship docks at 12 noon and we must return by 8:00pm. Could you accommodate us at these times?

We are hereby to inform you that on the 3rd May, this tour is no longer available. In alternative, we have a full day tour going to Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo and we have just one place left. Nevertheless, the pick up for this tour, if you are coming on a cruise ship, will be at the lower deck level on the cruise port around 8h30am.
