Gruta do Carvão it’s a safe and fun activity to do with family or friends! You have a tour guide do explain the nature and changes that suffer. The guide is so nice and fun! It has a few stairs to go to the cave so keep that in mind!

This was a new discovery for me on this last trip to the island. It's amazing to visit and the tour guides are really knowledgable. Worth the price for the visit.

A fantastic way to see what has shaped the main island, even if the trip is shortened due to the pandemic.

If you go to Sao Miguel, you need to visit the cave !! This is really awesome, interesting to do. On top of that our guide was just perfect : friendly, with a lot of knowledge. We did the short visit as the long one was not taking place at that time and not sure I would have done it given that I can be claustrophobic. But I absolutely don't regret to pay 5Euros for the visit.

In these times of COVID-19, you need to book in advance and there is a limit of people per visit. It is a great experience. You really are inside a vulcanic cave, without any adaptations or turistic changes. It is a rare monument of nature.
