Fort and Museum

The fort is the most interesting aspect of the site. There was a Nov 11 service while we were there. The views from the top are wonderful

was a nice old fort but to much attention to angola conflict and not about the history of the actual fort

Armaments on display and examples of cannons on the ramparts, but aside from the extremely pleasant guard/entrance monitor, not too much there.

I did not expect to see so many historic weapons, instruments, medical devices, vehicles, etc. The cost to enter is minimal and there is just so much to see. Perfect on any day, but a good place to spend a few hours on a rainy day.

This military museum was on the doorstep of our hotel we walked past it everyday. Decided to stop in to pass some time. It was a real treat, 3 euros to get in, lots of military equipment you could touch and fell. Long tunnel like hallway feels like a bomb shelter. Nice view of the harbour from the upper level.... Small military oriented museum and historic fort. The exhibits are well laid out and accessible with minimal English translations. The fort provides you with a panoramic view of that part of the city but very little view of the bay. A modern port now occupies the area between the fort and the modern bay. If you visit Ponta Delgada you... More

My wife and I both had a great time walking around the fort and seeing all of the many interesting displays. We climbed up to the top and strolled around the walls and took in the wonderful sights . A bargain at only 3 euros each

Great tour. And only 3€. I was surprised to see how many pieces of military equipment from around the world are available to see. The views from the top offer great views of both the east and west sides of Ponta Delgada.

I was surprised to discover such a historical fortress still in active use as well as housing important historical artifacts. It has a commanding position at the harbourfront and provides excellent views from the ramparts. Uniforms and weaponry from colonial past to present are on display and the current Military are on duty at the gates as well as within.
