It is a single nave church with painted ceilings and main altar rich with gilded carvings. There is a locally known historical picture by Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho inside. The statues are from 17th century ! The church used to have tower before it was...More

I have forgotten how beautiful the churches are here, if your in town stop by for a quick visit. The Portuguese have such a respect for their religion.

It is very pleasant to look at this beautiful, characteristic building. With the predominant colours of the Island - black and white - it takes us to ancient times.

The church is well located. Very nice interior. The most decorated church we've seen on the island. Great view on the cruise ships

Nearby the hotels, some good restaurants as S. Pedro, and the port, this is another example of the churches that the Portuguese built during the Discoveries. Worth a visit.

From the cruise terminal, you have to climb a bit to visit, but the views outside and the church itself will reward your efforts.

This was a beautiful church that we were able to visit prior to boarding our whale watching tour. We were asked to pay €1 per person to enter, but then we had a guided tour and the guide helped to capture some fantastic photos.
