It is in the heart of Coimbra, right next to the Santa Cruz Church. Easily accessible, with a small garden, it is a great place to take photos and relax on the restaurant terrace right next to this beautiful monument. It is one of the first completely Renaissance architectural works made in Portugal. A magical place in the city center. Beautiful site, with beautiful architecture. Good for taking a small break with a coffee, enjoying the sun and gazing upon the cloister.

Coming down from the Upper Town after visiting the Science Museum, we came across this strange building. It is difficult to understand why this oddly shaped structure is a national monument of the country? However, the Garden of Manga (not to be confused with Japanese!) It is the first fully Renaissance structure in Portugal. The dominant feature of the garden is a building with a dome, inside which is a fountain, and four small chapels. The XVI century.

This is a lovely and curious building which is in need of a power hose! It's a nice place to sit before ascending to the top of the town.

The description says it all. Very decrepit needs much TLC to make it historical landmark. But gateway to the city.
