We broke our journey in this hotel on our way to the North Coast. The hotel is secluded with beautiful grounds and s large park with fountains and golf driving range and putting. The room was spacious and the hotel was well appointed. The outdoor pool is large but was closed during our visit. Staff are very friendly and breakfast... More

We wanted to come to this hotel some time ago and we had great expectations. Soon as we arrived we understood they were too high. No one came to the door to take care of our luggage. We had to carry them through the stairs as there are a lot of stairs to get to the entrance. Then after I... More

Unique location but a number of basic elements should not grant it a 5 star ranking. Examples: nobody was available at the entrance to carry the bags or park the car, pool was closed for works without any information, reception person had to show the room and bathrooms need urgent refurbishment. For the beautiful gardens surrounding it and the reputation... More

Booking this hotel from australia as a very special two night stay towards the end of our holiday in Portugal was meant to feel like a really special destination. Much was made by the website- such as an invitation to join the exclusive club of Small Hotels of the World with the promise of a free room upgrade as this... More

We spent two nights here in March 2017 and enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms were large and comfortable, the breakfast excellent and the restaurant had lovely views over the garden. The service was attentive, friendly and professional but never intrusive. We loved the spa which has a good sized pool and Turkish bath and sauna. Outside there is... More

The property is steeped in history, translates estate of tears. Once inside the rooms are beautiful, old shutters keep the light away and heat in the summer, furnished to a high degree, beds are really comfortable. Grounds are a pleasure to investigate. I liked the history which goes with the hotel. I bought the book. Staff were pleasant and friendly.

Beautiful pool, (tho a little chilly- just wishful thinking for Oct. Garden and love story of Ines and Pedro were a highlight.... More
