Despite its central location in Praça da República, it can be easily overlooked. Its access through a steep flight of stairs may put you off a bit, but its worth a visit. The building it´s not big, but it´s full of baroque art and beautiful tiles. Outstanding main altar. Besides, it´s always fresh even in torrid summer afternoons.…

Very nice baroque church of the Third of San Francisco; rich decoration in and outside; the church is located on Praca da Republica, merit a visit.

We visited this church as afternoon mass was ending, and were touched by the intimate feel of this ornate church on the hill. You could feel the love of the parishoners, and felt welcomed, even though we were strangers. The architecture invited you to come and worship, as did the people.…
