When we arrived there weren't many people around. We bought our tickets and had an ice cream while we waited. We watched a short video in English before we went into the caves. Wow, they are absolutely stunning. We were blown away by the sheer beauty of them. The way the staircases have been put in in the keeping of... More

This is a really good example of stalactites and stalagmites. The story of how the caves were found is just as interesting. The guide is very personable and speaks English. We enjoyed our visit. Snacks are served upstairs but not lunch. The gift shop has many items to chose.

Reasonably (6euros each for entry) priced diversion on the way back to Lisbon from Fatima. Tour guide was cool and entertaining speaking and translating in just about every language under the sun. Caves were fascinating. Haven't seen anything like that before. Touring them only takes around twenty mins. So it's not an all day activity.

It's fantastic to discover this cavern. Near Fátima, 10-15 min by car, with parking and cafeteria service. If you want to take the guided visit, recommended by me, you need to wait for the scheduled entry. You'll see the amazing forms created by millions of years of water hitting the stone and found how the water found the way to... More

I have heard a lot about this place but its a real gem. At every step we were astonished by the formation. As we went in summer so no need to wear raincoats. One can easily walk without any problem. These are guided torus which last from 30 to 40 min. Our guide was explaining every minute details. At the... More

We made a stop here on our way from Porto to Lissabon. If you're in the neighborhood you can't skip this one. These caves are a good example of the hidden beauty of nature. The guide was sympathetic and eventhough we where the only non portuguese speaking people on the tour, he took the time to explain everything in english... More

Grutas da Moeda are located in São Mamede, about 4 km from "Casa de Lúcia" and 10 km from the Sanctuary of Fátima. The caves have 350m long and 45m deep and are open to the public for about 50 years. The caves are in charge of a private entity which is responsible for maintaining and cleaning space. The tours... More

Great little place to explore only 3km from Fatima shrine. You walk through cave with a tour guide who explains and answers any questions. Privately owned and still maintained by one of the hunters who found the cave in the 1970s. Great stalagmites and stalactites formations. Great for kids
