- MagnusRamage20 contributionsLift now working and well worth itWas a bit apprehensive about all the steps mentioned by some reviewers but pleased to say the lift is now working. We went today, on our first day in Lisbon and really enjoyed the view. Very good displays in the visitor centre as well. Gave us a good sense of the bridge and its importance. Very convenient if you're at the fab LX Factory to eat.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten February 20, 2024
- DanLondon, United Kingdom202 contributionsFine for a quick visit if you have a 24/48/72 hour Lisboa pass.We gave this a go to kill some time before the Monastery and because it was free with the Lisboa pass we had. The lift was not working but at 26 flights we didn't mind too much and on the plus side it was quiet. The views of the bridge at the top are decent and the glass floor viewing deck was quite cool. If you are in that part of Lisbon and have a pass it's worth a go, but I wouldn't recommend paying solely to do this experience.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten May 16, 2024

Having seen the previous review in February 2024 indicating the lift was now working and having an interest in bridge design and construction, we thought this would be an excellent attraction to experience to visit on 25th February 2024. It was not!
When we arrived, we were told the lift was not operating, (no explanation as to why, windy day? lift broken? open later in the day?) but we were welcome to pay for entry to the exhibition centre and climb the 300+ stairs to the observation platform. (We later learned from one one of the attendants that the reason the lift was not operating was because it was broken which was a frequent occurrence. There was no indication of when it would be fixed. Seems ironic that lift so often broken at a site of a major feat of engineering! )
We decided not to climb the stairs, but did pay to visit the exhibition centre and outside information trail.
The content of the exhibition and display (yes, singular), was poor, and not what you'd expect in Feb 2024. The exhibition was in one room and consisted of a model of the bridge in the centre of a glass case, with a timeline of the history of the bridge and key world events round the perimeter of the glass case. No interactive displays for children, no photos of the original construction works.
Outside there is a trail of steel floor plaques giving facts about some materials used in construction, but these are difficult to read, and the facts are just repeated at other plaques.
As we're 'oldies' we paid concession rate for entry of c3 Euros each, so we didn't feel too ripped off; just disappointed that this attraction could be so much better if the lift was working and the exhibition room added some more photos of the construction and workers involved, details of materials and where they were sourced, quantities used etc, interactive displays, details of the construction and impact the bridge has had on travel.

Nice little exhibition worth a visit if on your way to LX Factory. There's a brief exhibition giving the history of the bridge and how it came to be and then the lift takes you up most of the way so that you get great views of the construction of the bridge and the amazing engineering feat it is and they throw in a few vertigo-inducing tricks too. The platform is tiny and of course see-through but also really cool to be so close to the car level and also observe the trains going past. You also get views of the city of course. It wasn't very busy when we went, so an enjoyable experience.

1) Difficult to find: I took the 15E Tram to the correct stop BUT there were then NO SIGNS so I ended up walking the long way around a big block to get to Pier 7.
2) Little to see in the museum. Yes the anchor block wires are spectacular but little else to see.
3) The viewing deck at 215 ft is next to noisy traffic. One can't see in the direction of the city centre other than through the traffic. Looking the other way there is a good view but they do not clean the glass so no good for photos.

It isn't every day you get to go inside a bridge. It's a really well designed and interesting experience. The main experience involves an elevator taking you to road /bridge level and you can step onto a glass floor (freaked me out). Interesting and a fun diversion whilst I walked back from Belem. (NB: I got in with the Lisbon card and the LX Factory is behind.)

Lift not working. Nothing really to see. Observation platform at road level. Very poor.
Free with Lisboa Card - would not have paid to see it!
Close to LX Factory so only visited as we were there anyway
An embarrassing attraction for Lisbon

I enjoy heights, bridges and views from high places. I was hoping the viewing platform would be higher up, like at the top of one of the support towers, but the view is from the level of the bridge road. The views were nice as you can see from the included photos, but to be honest I thought Padrão dos Descobrimentos had a better vantage point and was more exhilarating as it did not have protective glass.
It was cool to see though, and free because I had the Lisboa Card still. A little hard to navigate to because of the adjacent highway.

We recently visited the bridge using our Lisboa card .The only issue we experienced was trying to get some good instructions on how to get there and we did end up walking the long way round to find it ! . I hope the details below will help anyone in future if they decide to visit .They should be more direct .
Get the number 15 tram from Praça Comércio heading towards Belém .
Get off the tram at Estacao Sto Amaro stop ,this is after you have gone under the bridge . Cross the tram tracks ,you will now be in front of the Carris tram museum .Follow the tram tracks in the direction of Belém for a few hundred yards until you reach a street on your left named Travessa Do Conde Da Ponte .Go down this street .At the bottom of this street you reach a hotel called Vila Gale Opera .Turn left across the front of the hotel ,you should now be on a main road under the bridge .The entrance to the Pilar 7 is on your left .
It is a fascinating place to visit with a good insight into its construction ,the viewing platform has a glass floor that gives great views up and down the river .If you do not want to go on this you can still go up in the lift and see the views from a less scary position .Keep hold of the tickets you are issued as you need to scan them several times on the way round and go through some airport style security scanning of bags etc .There are no cafe facilities but there are toilets and bag lockers .
If you are looking for lunch or a drink ,google LX Factory ,this is a lovely area just around the corner where old printing and cotton mills have been converted into food and retail spaces .This is also really worth a visit especially whilst in the area .

Hi there. I am pinning spots to my Google map, but can't specifically find the Bridge Experience. Obviously, it is easy to find the bridge, but can you help with how to get into the this attraction? Thanks.

The entrance is easy to see well signposted on the right hand side of the road-about 20/30minutes walk to Belem if you aren’t doing the bus tour-enjoy!
