About
Oceanário de Lisboa is one of the largest aquariums in Europe featuring over 15,000 marine creatures from 500 species. It is centered around one main central tank and several smaller habitats spread over two floors, and showcases both terrestrial and marine ecosystems. You can even spend a night here and sleep with sharks. The building 'floats' in a bay off Parque de Nacoes in eastern Lisbon riverside frontview—you can walk to the Oceanário de Lisboa via a walkway across the water. This attraction is a popular stop on hop-on hop-off bus tours in Lisbon which includes audio guides in several languages. – Tripadvisor

Neighbourhood: Parque das Nações
This neighborhood was built up at the end of the 1990s mostly because of the Expo '98. The pavilions and structures that once were the home of all the Expo's attractions and exhibits are still culturally and artistically significant. In Parque das Nações you'll explore conference and concert pavilions, a shopping center, trendy restaurants and an enjoyable cable car ride you can't miss out on. On top of this, the amazing Lisbon Oceanarium (one of the most spectacular things you'll ever see in the city) will take your breath away: its respect and will to preserve natural wildlife is uncanny. Easily accessible by metro, bus or taxi from the city center, Parque das Nações is highly recommended for anyone who'll spend more than 3 days in the Portuguese capital.

    Lisbo Aquarium - great visit.
Great visit for a rainy day. The cafeteria food was excellent and well priced. You can spend several hours here. Very accessible by public transit. Lots of security staff to make sure you don't do anything you're not supposed to. It would be better if these people interacted with tourists to talk about the exhibits. It would be better for both parties.

    Such a cute aquarium!
The aquarium is one of the most beautiful designed aquarium I’ve been too. Anyone can enjoy it. The aquarium is located about 35 min from the city center. Meter taxi cost about £10.

    Very nicely done aquarium
This was a bit of an Uber ride from our hotel, but worth it. The building is striking. The exhibits/tanks flow nicely - lots and lots of huge tanks filled with all types of sea life. It's a bit dark inside as you wend your way through the aquarium. Big, bright gift shop and dining area at the end. There's a cable car add-on we skipped that would most likely appeal to families with kids. Worth spending a few hours here. Great photo/video opps!

    Beautiful calm & informative experience.
Visited the aquarium as it was listed a some of the top things to do whilst in Lisbon and I can see why. Could sit a watch the main tank for hours with the different species of fish, sharks & coral. Plenty of posts around to tell you information on each species. I was dubious about the otters, penguins being in a captive space but they explained the conservation and reasons why they were captive and helped put my mind at ease a little. Spent around 3 hours here which is a lot more than we thought. But you just find yourself standing and watching in silence for ages.

Not the best, but if you never went to an aquarium it's ok
In doors and nice if it's your first time in an aquarium. Was very crowded, hard to watch, dark and a bit smelly. No supervising staff at site - a kid vomited and no one cleaned it. Little place to rest. Expensive. Had better experience at the Boston and the Jerusalem aquariums. But the kids enjoyed it, the store is lovely, there are water fountains you can play at outside for free.

    Spend the morning here!
We went right in the morning and it wasn’t as crowded. It features a variety of different climates and is quite educational. The main tank is filled with all kinds of aquatic creatures and is the highlight of the aquarium- the sharks were our favorite! The otters were not out when we went but the penguins were.

A chance to appreciate the beauty of our oceans
The main large aquarium is full of fish, sharks and rays. Really enjoyed spending 3hours walking around. Would highly recommend if you enjoy taking time to see the wonderful creatures of our oceans. Would also recommend booking the cable car experience at the back of it (as a Ticket add on).

    Best aquarium I've seen
We kept coming around to a different aspect of the central tank, with fish occupying their preferred niche. Informative but not didactic exhibits, with creatures I had not seen in other aquariums. Easy ride on the metro but a fair amount of walking to get to the aquarium proper. Signs primarily in Portuguese.

    A beautiful, nature-friendly place - please go!
We just loved the Oceanario! The focus is on conservation and education and the sea creatures are well cared for and in the case of the rescued sea otters - living the best life possible for them. There is so much to see and learn. We got there when it opened and spent over 2.5 hours there. It really is a very beautiful place. It was my favourite part of our break in Lisbon and I can't rate it highly enough!

I haven't been to an aquarium before and didn't realise how interesting it would be.
Tip..check online entrance before you go. Online it was €10 cheaper than buying at the counter although when we mentioned it to the staff, they helped us to buy it from the Web.
Definitely worth a visit for adults and children..

This aquarium is amazing! Not only does it appeal to a "tourist" perspective, but it is committed to education and conservation.

What an amazing place to visit. Was the highlight of my trip to Lisbon. The aquarium is fantastic and I especially enjoyed seeing the sharks. It was mind blowing! I would recommend 100% visiting here. There is so much to see. The penguins.were amazing, as well as the sea otters. The time flew by and I was there for nearly 3 hours!

I loved visiting the Oceanario de Lisboa! The aquarium has a huge variety of marine life, and the exhibits are well designed and informative. It's a great place to spend an afternoon learning about the creatures that live in the ocean. The highlight for me was definitely the large tank with the manta rays and sharks - it was so cool to see them up close! Highly recommend!

This was my favourite thing I did in Portugal. I went for the penguins and the sea otters but the whole attraction blew me away! It’s very easy to navigate, pretty much a one way system, and there is so much to see! I also got the sense the animals are very well taken care of. The entry fee is expensive but certainly worth it for such a unique experience

Expensive but beautiful.
Much to see but weather in Portugal is not the best in October.
If you are travelling by car look for a restaurant where the trucks and cars are as this is the local eatery where the prices are decent. They have a few specials of the day that are local to the region and national.

Well worth the visit. Lots of beautiful sea life that appeared to live in a healthy and wholesome environment. They support the preservation of sea life everywhere so we felt good about supporting them.

We loved the Aquarium in Lisbon. There were lots of different fish and sharks in the largest aquarium I have ever seen. The layout is very easy to navigate, with many unique things to see in independent displays. We had a hard time leaving the otters.
