This is one of the attractions included in the Lisboa card - just tap on the reader like on public transport so really easy. There wasn't a queue in January but they were set up for one. On a clear day the views are super but a bit chilly in the wind. You can go up a tight spiral stair... More

This is an old elevator and it is ok, but fun bit is when you get to the top. The view is out of this world, not sure what we prefered, the river view or the old Lisbon rooftops. Worth a visit and if you have time have a cup of coffee and enjoy the views.

There was a long-ish line to go up, but they allow 12 people to pass at a time so it goes fairly quickly. The price is €5.50 if you don't have a tourist bus card or Lisbon card. The lift itself is absolutely beautiful and photo-worthy, and the views at the top are fabulous. We timed our visit with the... More

Worth visiting. €5.50 to go up and see the best views of the city. Would recommend on a clear day so you get better views

This is probably my favourite lift in all the city! The beauty of it is absolutely mesmerising and the engineering always fascinated me! The view from the top is wonderful but, for me, the "tower" itself, the body of the elevator, is a constant remainder of human ingenuity and aesthetics!

So old and still so nice and helpfull. For 5.15 euro you have got two way ticket. From the top of this elevator will have panoramatic wiev to the center of Lisboa.

The cost is 5.60 EUR per person to climb 6 or 7 NY stories height??? The view is nothing more special than the view from any other platforms throughout the city. Mysteriously there are always long lines to the elevator: tourists with money to burn :-)) The structure itself in nothing special, though attributed to one of Gustave Eiffel's pupils... More

My suggestion is: go up by Cassis and go down by the elevator. Your Metro ticket work for both. You can view the city from the top

We went there, paid 5.15€ for the lift and then realized we could have used the bridge, just round the corner (from the restaurant right opposite the church). The view tower is charged extra.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
