This museum is one of the cheapest ones to visit (of course it is free on Sundays), and it has content for at least 3 hours of visit, and the art in it is mostly portraits and other religious paintings, with also some sculptures and...More

Although we found this museum difficult to find on foot, it really was well worth the visit. We visited mid week and most of the rooms were empty. It was a joy to be able to stand in front of a Bosch painting and spend...More

This is a great museum housed in an old palace. However, after a recent renovation, the rooms look modern, sleek and beautifully appointed. This is not a dusty old museum, but one with clear open light illuminating the paintings that are not crammed on the...More

As in most European Museums, the perennial ecclesiastical art is everywhere, it is worth seeing. This museum has a collection of nativity scenes I had never seen anywhere before. This place should be on your list of things to do. Tiles, ceramic, wooden art is...More

Enjoyed our visit especially as it was museum day and so free entry. It would have been worth paying anyway. There was plenty to see and a variation of periods of Art. Pleasant cafe/restaurant with garden overlooking the river - friendly staff.

A good museum of ancient art. Top two highlights in my view are clearly Temptations of St Anthony by Jheronymus Bosch and Panels of St. Vincent by Nuno Gonçalves. Personally, I was also impressed by the Japanese folding screens showing the arrival of Portuguese vessels...More
