Just had enough time to admire the Bosch and Durer

Tried to visit at the end of a long day which included 8 stops in Belem and only had about 30 minutes. Still it was worth it for these two remarkable paintings in Room 61. If you... read more

Heads up only a couple of rooms are open during our Easter holidays because of a strike. So find out before you head over there since you don't want to waste your time

Tried to visit at the end of a long day which included 8 stops in Belem and only had about 30 minutes. Still it was worth it for these two remarkable paintings in Room 61. If you take the tram (very crowded leaving Belem and heading back to Lisbon in the late afternoon), the museum is at the top of... More

Going to a museum is difficult to keep the energy for over 90 minutes, due to that reason I would advise you to spend most of your time in the Portuguese collection; be sure you’ll see the Nanban art screens. In the international collection the Bosch tryptic is the priority. Don’t leave the museum without going to the garden where... More

A hidden juwel in Lisbon. For me the absolute highlight was the Heronimus Bosch painting. Stunning details, fascinating to enter the medieval world of shock and awe !

It was a beautiful day in Lisbon and so it was for the time spent indoors at this extraordinary museum. The breadth and richness of the collections is astounding and provides an excellent presentation of Portugal's magnificence throughout the centuries. One can discover precious porcelains and then find breathtaking jewels, paintings, religious art, etc. etc. It just takes your breathe... More

Wonderful place with a great story to tell and some amazing art. However only 4 out of 5 as there are no facilities in evidence for the disabled!

A wonderful collection of art from the 15th to the 20th century. An enormously impressive collection of porcelain and an equally beautiful collection of silver and church treasures. There is something for everybody and the interior is very user friendly. Full of light and space and a great place to walk around slowly and appreciate the wonderful exhibits.

This is a nice, not big museum, featuring art from different places (Japan, Portugal, Macau, etc) and from different periods (Renaissance to modern times). There is something for everyone - from decorative art through paintings to tiles. A little bit far away from both the center and transport.

The National Museum of Ancient Art is a paradox of a surprisingly modern interior with ancient artifacts and the combo is a delight to the senses. Take your time. Soak in the minute details that are in every display. Lovely!

I was expecting more. Lisbon has so many museums, and I heard this was one of the better ones. But I was very disappointed - the collection is small, and mostly religious paintings, furniture, and silver and gold pieces (again, mostly religious in nature). If this is what you're interested in in terms of art then it's perfect for you... More
