This is a lovely stop ... passed by chance, and wondering at the rather non-committal signage outside the museum, we entered and were quite delighted with the collection from this prominent merchant family. It is art, novelties of the early 20th century, furniture, time pieces and much more; a very interesting glimpse into Portugal's near-past, and a most worthwhile hour... More

My hotel in Lisbon was right across the street from this museum, and I visited on a Saturday afternoon last month. It seemed as though there were no more than maybe five other visitors in the entire place! Granted, it's not a large museum, but there certainly were no issues with finding enough space for yourself to look around! As... More

This fascinating eclectic private collection, just off the busy Ave.Liberade is the best museum in Lisbon because it holds a complete range of displays, ranging from a Philips radio to paintings from the 16th century. All this is housed in a private mansion house, which the owners lived in until the 1970's, and the building alone is worth a viewing.... More

This is a fantastic museum with an outstanding collection of varied artefacts in a lovely building. The displays represent the collection of one man in the house he lived in and it is a wonderful experience to visit here. I visited on a Friday afternoon in October and there was just me and a pair of other visitors there -... More

This is a must for anyone who enjoys beautiful objects collected by one man with a passion, plenty of money and no children. The building and the contents are outstanding and you will finish the visit stimulated not drained of energy!

Located near our hotel, running into this museum, I hit the Jackpot. There is an unusual mixture of artifacts, houseware, ceramics, silverware, clocks and watches (spectacular) painting (all periods including rarities) and more. The printed keys for each room work quite well for identifying most major artifacts; and there are copies in English. Take it slow and enjoy. It was... More

This is a beautiful museum, truly among the 2-3 best museums in Lisbon. An impressive collection, not to be missed.

I can't understand that as of this review, this museum is down the list at number 107 of Lisbon's attractions. Located in a huge downtown palatial villa, the 25 or so rooms showcase the amazing private collection of the rich businessman who left it to a foundation for public display. It's a fascinating collection of paintings, tapestries, jewelry, watches, clocks,... More

This museum is a well kept secret in downtown Lisbon, with a extensive and rich collection that many few are aware. Discover it!

I enjoyed the antique collection by Mr Medeiros e Almeida (1895-1986) in his palatial mansion just off Avenida Liberdade. Only open 1300-1730,saturday also in the morning;5euro. The collection is somewat similar to Decorative arts museum in Alfama,French Louis 15th Rococo antiques collection at Gulbenkian,Rococo antiques at Queluz. But for interested antiques fan a lot to admire. The area is an... More
