Easy and Free way to see the city. Lots of park benches to sit. You can even have a picnic on the grass or soak up some rays. Panoramic views of the city.

Well worth the walk up (or fenicular if prefered).
The garden has been recently refurbished and past the grassed area down on the lower terrace is a very attractive cafe. Two toasted sandwiches and large salad (no hamburgers available on our visit) with a couple of beers for just under 20Euro.
A quieter viewpoint than some others.

Felt like we were stumbling across a rather secret place- this certainly isn't one of the viewpoints that is really well-known to tourists.

Not lots to 'do' there but just good to be able to chill out on a nice day. The funicular is very very short so only recommended if it is essential, otherwise sure it would seem like a rip off.

Quite a steep walk up to this garden for a view which we had caught from other high points in the city. Lots of potential but in need of some maintenance to make it more attractive. What was more interesting was the park a few minutes walk away with peacocks and other birds.

Do not waste your time walking up or taking the furnicular to this park. I dragged my poor husband all the way up here in the midday heat and yet again he proved his first instinct was right, don't do it! What a waste of time and effort. I wouldn't even call this a park, no flowers, a dirty filthy fountain full of green algae. What wonderful rare views, I was expected better, you can get better views for little or no effect simply by going to the Sky Tivoli Bar in the day and it's a lift to the 8th floor! We wished we hadn't bothered.

From the Avenida Liberdade, walk down Rua dos Condes and left at the end to Elavador do Gloria (included in Viva Viagem & similar cards, otherwise EUR3.90). This is the oldest elavador that is missed by most tourists. Turn left twice at the top and enter the Jardim do Torel, which has great views and is a lovely spot for a picnic.

We visited on a Friday, and the Jardim was very peaceful being off the tourist trail, but the cafe was closed.

From the Jardim there are steps down past a primary school to pick up the Avenida da Liberdade (midway between Metro stops Avenida & Restauradores) to continue your explorations.

Truly a hidden gem. It is not so touristic as some places/parks/viewing points, so I recommend it fully. BEWARE: the team is out of order (from 28-06-2014 until 5 weeks later) so you have to walk up the hill. But the view, the calmness it brings and the cleanliness of the park make it a great place. Have fun.

This is an ironically not very popular garden in Lisbon, as it is very calm, with a great view of the city and a great cafe, perfect to a sunny afternoon!
Bring a book or a music player and... enjoy Lisbon! :)

Nice place with nice view of Lisbon, however the idea of the beach there is not very positive... The bar and place itself were enough. The view and a chill out musica woudl be ok !

I often head to Jardim to Torel to get a quiet coffee and catch up on some reading. Perched on a height, the park is clean and well maintained with a nice view. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice getaway from the city centre hustle bustle.
