Our sweet and charming tour guide, Christy, showed us around Lisbon with great enthusiasm and passion. Most highlights were made a lot more interesting with the stories she told us. So all in all a very positive experience, which gave us the feeling of having actually seen and learned quite a bit about the city in a fairly short time.... More

I had a free walking tour from pancho in Lisbon. The provider was some company which belongs to pancho. Guide was not even local, he had poor English and a little idea about history of the country. We had a tour in Alfama district just up and down the hill. I blame everything on the poor choice of tour guides... More

We went on Tiago's tour yesterday (03.10.16) and thought it was really informative. Tiago showed us some really unique pieces of art and places in the city we would never have seen or experienced without the tour. As well as giving a great tour, he gave fantastic recommendations for authentic restaurants & places to visit. Highly recommend!

Well not really free as the expectation is that you give a tip at the end but really, our guide worked very hard to earn it! Kamran was knowledgeable, friendly, earnest and showed us a ton over 2 1/2 hours! Some of us ended up lunching together afterwards with Kamran - so we got to make a few friends out... More

We had a terrible tour with Pancho Tours, especially after our Wine Tourism Spain tours ( which were phenomenal). First the guide driving was a maniac. We thought we were going to die with the high speeds, darting in and out of cars while tailing them. We had requested a guide for hire in the Alhambra but was told we... More

So we got carried away amd booked 4 different tours. No regrets, they were all informative, entertaining and just the right amount of information so as to keep you intersted but not overwhelm. The monuments tours gave a good overwiew of the history of Seville. Mangel was charming and quite entertaining and certainly gave a comprehensive tour. The guy who... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
