If you can book a visit to the Palace itself, not only the museum and you'll enjoy it much more. They are usually just at Saturdays. The museum itself is really tasteful and if you want you can learn a lot.

It was my first time to this well presented and interesting museum. It was (predictably for Feb?) quiet which meant I had time to wander and ponder and take in the succinctly presented history of the republic. It was good to put faces to names...More

The gardens and the palace itself are the best part, the museum is a little bit small for that price, but it has a lot of cool stuff.

Not too much to see here, probably more interesting for Portuguese residents. The collection is lovely but mainly consists of gifts from heads of state to the Portuguese presidents. Some beautifully crafted gifts.

Although I read and speak Portuguese, my husband doesn't and this was very frustrating when we realize that this museum has not got any information for English speakers. It was nice to see all the gifts and the medals and condecorations. The paintings were also...More
