This is an impressive monument and definitely worth a look if you are in Lisbon. It celebrates the Age of Discovery and the many Portaguese sailors and their accomplishments. You can go all the way to the top and have some amazing views of Belem.

Reasonably priced and a great view of the river, bridge, Belem Tower and surrounding area. We didn't have to queue for very long and children under 12 (I think) go free.

If you have the time, I highly recommend this place. The view from here is amazing. The line was long but we didn't wait too long to enter.

The monument itself is striking on a vaguely North Korean way (it is remarkably similar to two in Pyongyang). It looks particularly good from the river. Inside there is a timed lengthy documentary and a downstairs exhibition space which had a brilliant exhibition on racism...More

This monument to discoverers is a wonderful piece of sculpture. In front of the sculpture is a map of the world set into the pavement showing the various discovery voyages undertaken by Portuguese navigators. Well worth the visit.

It is a modern monument located near the Belem Tower. Of course, it has nothing to do with Belem Tower and the Monastery, yet it is powerful and worth to be seen. It brings you back to the Colonial Era. Impressive also the map with...More

Hope it's open, last 2 weeks of April it was closed. Normally it should be open again. But if you really want a nice view over the river and Lisbon: I suggest the monument Christo Rei (at the other side of the river). After... More
