Great view of the bridge

It was being renovated at the time of our visit. The place is beautifully made, it gives you a sense on the relationship that existed between the Portuguese and world exploration.

The landmark is interesting itself, bigger advantage is the surrounding area of Belem - the riverside with panoramas, torre de belem, monastery

Been there but it's under construction. Probably because it's not a touristic season. Very disappointed

One of those places that is nice to visit but definitely not worth a long detour. So if in area, get out of car and take some pics and enjoy the walk around. If not close by go see better sights

This monument is extremely impressive. However, it is currently covered in scaffolding and almost known of the statues can be seen. Disappointing but would still recommend.

Certainly this is impressive and worth a look when the scaffolding has been removed as currently there is very little of it visible. Plenty of other attractions closeby though.

The monument is under renovation, so it doesn't look too good right now, but the area is still a nice place to visit and hang around.

We visited here while wandering around Belem. It was slightly disappointing it is currently covered in scaffolding while work is carried out on it. However, being a less busy time of year for tourism this is probably the best time for work like this to be carried out. However, even covered in scaffolding it's still an impressive structure.

It is in the Belém área. The monument itself is great! The view on the top of the monument is super!!!

We saw this monument from a distance on our visit to Belem. We decided not to trek over to see it and instead go to the Torre de Belem and spend more time there. The design doesn't appeal to me.

Staying in Belem

Neighbourhood Profile
Belem
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.
