I highly recommend Lisbonriders for an authentic cultural experience. I'm not usually a big fan with tours but as I was organising for a group of 7 I felt it was necessary to have one. They have definitely changed my perception of how tours can be intimate and engaging! Lisbonriders was accommodating from the very start from organising the trip... More

We just finished the most fantastic day, touring sintra and cascais with Nuno. He was very knowledgeable and delightful to be with. Our entire group really enjoyed the tour and spending time with Nuno. Thank you! Highly recommend to anyone visiting.

We met Manuel who was the tour guide and driver for our day long tour of Sintra and Cascais. The van seated all 7 of us comfortably with Manuel attending to each of our questions and needs. The tour started with a drive through Lisbon with Manuel explaining what we were seeing all, along the route to the first stop at... More

We did the Sintra and Cascais day trip from Lisbon. Our driver and very helpful friendly guide Manuel picked us up at Praca da Figueira at 9am and from there we made our way to Sintra and visited the Pena Palace. He got our tickets for the group and guided us around this amazing castle. We were given a little... More

Our Lisbon Rider guide "Manuel" picked us up at exactly 9:00 AM at the statue of King João (John) and settled the six guests in a new comfortable minivan for a day in Sinatra, Cascais, and Cabo da Roca. He was a very safe and patient driver with the Sunday and Carnival heavy traffic. Manuel knew both Portuguese and European... More

Before booking my tour with Lisbon Riders, I did what many do today, read reviews on Lisbon Riders. I knew after reading many that I would not be disappointed with booking a tour to Sintra and Cascais. Nuno provided us with a rich history of Portugal and the places we visited during the day. The way the tour is planned... More

Very good value for money. Our guide, Manuel, picked us up at Praca da Figueira - clean and comfortable people transporter. He commentated on places/things of interest throughout the trip and stopped if we wanted to take a closer look. Very informative and interesting day trip to Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais. Lunch stop at Sintra and... More

Even though the weather was stormy, we had an amazing experience with Nuno touring Sintra, the palace , the beach and Cascais. Nuno was extremely knowledgeable about all kinds of subjects and had interesting stories. He was polite and attentive but also gave us time and space to explore on our own. Be sure to request to visit Quinta da... More

My husband and I had a fantastic day in Sinatra and Cascais with our guide Nuno and the other guests on our tour. Nuno was extremely knowledgeable, provided a great amount of information and was an excellent driver. A highlight was definitely Pena Palace. We had incredible weather and the view was amazing! But the part I loved the most... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
