A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Wonderful shop for a glove-lover. You can find here gloves for spring and autumn. You may also find some fancy finger free gloves. Colours are wonderful and the leather so soft. Love it. You are treated like a royal in the shop.

As the home is a mirror of its inhabitants, one look at this store will tell you all you need to know about its gloves. Luxurious, high-quality, trend-resistant—treat them with the care they merit, and their ageless style and good looks will serve you well for years.
Inside the diminutive boutique, you choose from those on display. Your size? The woman behind the counter, she knows just by looking. A leather cushion slides across the counter. Your elbow is propped up, then she slides the glove onto your hand. Inside, the softest cashmere envelopes each finger; outside, buttery leather gleams on the hand. Another pair—silk-lined. The fit is sublime, as if made from a mold of your hand. “Like a second skin,” the woman behind the counter says. The cashmere would be warmer, but the silk is irresistible. As if it is the glove that chooses the owner, not the other way around.
Buttery brown leather lined in cream silk are slipped into more silk—the store’s signature bag—and taken to their new home.

A friend took my mother and I to this tiny shop in Lisbon. There was a line out the door because only 2 customers can really fit inside at a time. You go in and choose your glove style, then they have you put your elbow on a leather pedestal so they can properly measure you for the right fit. The gloves are beautiful - I chose a teal pair with cashmere lining. The leather is so soft and the gloves are so well constructed. And also surprisingly, they were not as expensive as I expected. The prices were on par or less than what I have encountered back in the U.S. for lower quality construction and materials. Well under 100 Euro, even for cashmere lining. Plus, they come with a silk drawstring storage bag.
Fun place, doesn't take long once you're inside. Cool photo opps.

The Luvaria Ulisses was not ordinary shop for all kinds of reasons. First, it was tiny, having the capacity for one, or maybe two folks in it at a time. Then, it was beautiful, all adorned with red and gold ornamental design. And three, the gloves were stunning. My sister was taken care of by the proprietor, who placed her elbow on a round padded pillow, made especially for the elbows of glove-tryer-oners. Then the saleswoman looked at my sister's hand and could immediately tell what size she was. Impressive. A box was taken out of this long narrow hallway that went back into the shop. George pointed out that it reminded him very much of Olivander’s wand shop in Happy Potter. So true! So the gloves were extracted and then “opened” by the lady with this tool that looked like a large wooden tweezer thing. She stuck it in every finger of the glove and popped them open. And then finally, the glove was placed on the waiting hand. And they fit, well, like a glove. Finally the newly purchased gloves were placed in a satiny bag, which was then placed in a fancy shopping bag, and then given to my sister. All of this was fascinating and very very fun to watch. Loved this shop, even though I wasn't the purchaser!

I recommend this glove shop to everyone. This is the oldest gloveshop in Lisbon.
Come here try their gloves on your arm and buy few pairs for you and as a present for your friends.

Went there to buy a pair of gloves as a souvenir / present to my wife. The shop is charming and the quality of the gloves is very good but the available selection is extremely limited. As It turned out only three pairs of gloves were available in my wife’s size and those were in an odd colors selection. We left disappointed.

My wife was so looking forward to visiting Luvaria having read about it in a Lisbon Guide book... and she wasn’t disappointed - her wee smile was worth the cost of the gloves alone. This is a very quaint tiny little shop, the kind that you would only find in Lisbon (not Paris, nor London, as there it would be scaled up and spoiled by commercial greed, losing the whole character and the essence of the experience ). My wife tells me the gloves are very well made, a huge amount of stitching work and detail and very high quality leather. The gloves were individually fitted by a very friendly lady who we chatted with for some time. The chosen gloves were beautifully packaged in a silk bag and then a luvaria paper bag. We queued mid morning for about 10 mins, and took about 15 mins to choose. The gloves start at Euro 50 ish - and sure you could get cheaper in Debenhams or M&S, but if that’s your thought then this place is really not for you. Guys, if you want to do something romantic for your lady, surprise her and take her here. Also, they do men’s gloves too ... so I can restate this as ... for the partner in your life, do something memorable - take their hand and take them here.

A beautiful little !!! shop in the Chiado area of Lisbon with many sorts of leather gloves. The shop is almost 100 years old, a milestone of handicraft, using traditional methods.A pair of fine gloves are a self-indulgent present.

Thanks in advance!
