Principe Real area is located north from Bairro Alto and a 20 minute uphill walk form the city center, or and to get here faster, use the Elevador da Gloria funicular and then about a five-minute walk from the top of it.
It is modern and deluxe residential area with cool coffee shops, unique restaurants, funky bars, and luxury shops. It is also the safest area to stay in Lisbon. Principe Real is known for its shops for every taste and budget selling linen, chocolates, home decor, creative housewares, summer dresses, burlap backpacks, colorful shoes, and horn-rimmed sunglasses. Also one of the most iconic things to see in this area is Embaixada, a stunning 20th century palace turned into a hip, upscale mall. Plus a cute little garden called Principe Real Garden.
Principe Real is highly recommended if you're not a big fan of the crowds of busy center, it's calmer and more relaxed. But keep in mind that this area is located on a hill and we had to climb all the way, while observing the area, it was very exhausting. The way back down to town was much more pleasant.

A blink and you'll miss it square, my boyfriend and I really enjoyed spending time in this neighborhood. A bit more off the beaten path and near the University it gives you a very different feel than Barrio Alto or the Baixa part of the city.
Some of Lisbon's best boutique shopping can be found on the Rua Dom Pedro V, just steps from the square. Not to miss is a wander through the Embaixada, an old mansion converted into a shopping collective. Great finds in there!
Check out the interesting cedar tree in the center of the gardens or grab a bite to eat in the cafe inside the park.

Even for the Portuguese, Lisbon is today a trend city. Much has improved and much has been restored. Lisbon has a very natural light, common to the cities along a river and the sea. It is a beautiful city and worth a visit. The "Praça Principe Real" is one of the beautiful and interesting places to visit in Lisbon. Charming with a Portuguese and Lisbon design.

Visit this beautiful tree lined park and a bench may beckon you to sit for awhile. On Saturdays, there is the organic market with offerings of fresh vegetables and fruits and products from local farms for more fresh produce. The cafe is great for a coffee or a light lunch.Nearby are lots of unique and trendy shops to explore. Its a nice area awsy from the hustle bustle touristy areas.

This has become one of my favorite parts of Lisboa. A well-maintained park with massive trees, some overhanging places to sit. A cute cafe full of people. And marvelous architecture all around. Good restaurants.

This is a lovely square up on the hill in the middle of a charming neighborhood. The square has some big impressive trees and a cafe. Sit under the trees and sip a cafe. Lovely architecture all around, some good shopping and eating.

This is a rather ordinary and somehow neglected square in central Lisbon.
Passing through it in the evening felt uncomfortable, as it was almost pitch dark and dodgy-looking.

The square around the Jardim do Principe Real has nice looking buildings. There are restaurants nearby. The Botanical garden is there (it was closed when we visited in March).

Lots of photo opportunities here. Beautiful, coloured buildings and statues. Definitely a must do in Lisbon.
