A very disappointing experience. I had bought tickets to visit the museum and to have the fado experience. I bought through the app of "fever" a very famous app in Portugal which sells tickets for events, I had already used the app and never had had a problem. When I went with my tickets (3 tickets of 25 euros each) to Fundaçao Amalia Rodrigues, they said to me that the tour and fado were not available and they had nothing to do with the fever app (even if the name of the museum is clearly advertised in there) it’s hard for me to believe they don’t know where their services are advertised and sold. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing after having spent 75 euros and scheduling my sight seeing for the day in Lisbon in order to get at the museum on time. They simply said that I should contact the app that sold the tickets, that they had nothing to do whatsoever, not wanting to take any responsibility on it. The young lady at the reception was nice, empathetic and tried to help me and my family since we were clearly disappointed with the situation. However, and older lady that came from an office (she seemed to be like the one in charge) was extremely rude to me, she came to tell me that they had nothing to do with the tickets, and she even raised her voice at me when I was trying to ask for some responsibility on their side, I just couldn't believe that treatment. What a disgrace of behaviour towards customers that just feel scammed and disappointed with the whole situation. This is not an image you want to keep from Portuguese people, but to be fair, I think this is not the normal behaviour, it was just this woman incredibly impolite. In the end, we just left the place feeling very sad and disappointed with that kind of treatment. I wouldn't recommend this place unfortunately.…

Capture the voice of Portugal in this former home now made into a loving museum. While Amalia Rodrigues sings in the background you get to experience a personal side of this great singer who recreated Fado with her elegant jewelry and dresses. Our guide Isabelle was enthusiastic and a wealth of information. We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the house with her guidance and commentary. We learned so much and found out there is the lovely addition of Fado on Tues and Fri. Earlier in the evening by reservation. We met the famous Chico, her 29 yr old parrot out in the garden. There is a cute cafe with drinks and goodies available as well as beautiful artifacts for sale. We had a wonderful morning and look forward to a return to hear the live Fado.…

For a starter this was the home of the most famous Fado singer of all times, the one and only Amália Rodrigues. All of her furniture, clothes, personal items, etc are on display left just as when she was living here, so much so one can almost feel her presence. Xico, the parrot is still in residence and I’m told is very cheeky and amusing, especially at meal times when he requests treats and, if none are provided, puts on a sad voice and says “poor Xico ...” Apart from visiting the house, one can also attend a Fado evening: in Amalia’s garden during the Summer months and inside the rest of the year. These unmissable Fado events take place every Tuesday and Friday late afternoon. Little cafe on the premises serving homemade cake and coffee. Paid parking nearby. Total must!…

Amalia Rodrigues' house is a little gem for all who love Amalia and fado. Full of personal belongings including her pet parrot, Chico. Run by young people who SOOOO know what they are doing. We visited the museum twice (two different guides) and each time, besides official information we got to know so many various stories from her personal life, about her relationship with people and such. It was clear the guides love their job and love Amalia. Well done, we already know we will be back once we get to Lisbon again. A practical info: no photos allowed…
