About
Once an old industrial textile complex, LX Factory is now home to Lisbon’s trendiest restaurants, bars, and shops. Located beneath the Ponte de 25 Abril Bridge, the revitalized hotspot resembles a village where you can walk down cobbled streets and admire the street art adorning the walls of old warehouses. Here, you can dine in a former industrial canteen, shop at a multi-story bookstore, watch artists at work in their ateliers and studios, catch a live performance or exhibition, and more.
On the weekend, stop by the open-air flea market which sells everything from handmade jewelry to vintage clothing. – Tripadvisor

- inhale-exhale321Europe128 contributionsOption for a rainy day if you have nothing else to do.A friend recommended visiting LX factory so I went there on a rainy day. Apart from a few cute shops and obviously the bookshop with the bicycle (Les Devagar, which is a wonderful place) it is purely commercial and quite run down around the edges. Some interesting murals and a good place to hide from the rain. I ordered hot chocolate at a small café but left after 25 minutes since they were overwhelmed with two hands full of customers. public toilet was chained locked. I wouldn't recommend making your way here.Visited December 2022Written December 18, 2022
- Kendall K784 contributionsWhere the hipsters play!LX Factory is a nice contemporary slash hipster social spot. The repurposing of old industrial space into multiple restaurants, shops, bookstores etc is always cool to see what a little creativity and teamwork can do. Depending on what you’re looking for you can probably find it at LX. Nice date and hangout spot every once in a while.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten December 22, 2022
- Christian MCopenhagen, Denmark3,874 contributionsCheck opening hours before showing upOn the 25th of December, we walked 1 hour in the rain from Baixa - just to find the gate to LX Factory closed. What to do? Walk back again, of course. We were soaked. Located in the shadow of a massive concrete highway bridge LX Factory seems picturesque the industrial way that modern artists adore. By the way, you don’t have to walk all the way. We saw tram 15E passing by.Visited December 2022Written December 25, 2022
- 3LoveLifeMargate City, New Jersey129 contributionsNeed some time to enjoy!Stopped by after an already busy day, I wish I had more time. I will definitely go back to do some more shopping. Lots of cute stores and fun restaurants. We had a bite to eat at one of the restaurants Pura, it was ok. I’ll definitely do some research to find a better place to eat next time and perhaps a map of stores so I don’t miss anything.Visited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten January 3, 2023
- Kirk ESanta Fe, New Mexico1,053 contributionship and livelyThis lively and trendy spot is home to Lisbon's best bookstore, Ler Devagar, and abounds with restaurants and boho shops. It's still very much a work in progress, with plenty of unoccupied space; graffiti reaches a high level on the old warehouse walls, though not everything can exactly be considered "street art." A bit more variety in both merchandise and cuisine are definitely called for, but as a social magnet it pulses with life, especially after the sun goes down.Visited December 2022Written January 17, 2023
- Kelli BFort Worth, Texas116 contributionsA FUN Market Day Not to be missedWhile on a tuk tuk Eco Electric Day tour of Lisbon we mentioned to our tour guide that we had a free day on Sunday with nothing planned. We asked him what he’d recommend! Thank goodness we asked as this was truly an incredible day, such a fun place full of artisan shops, unique shops, great restaurants .. such a fun vibe too! LX Factory is open all week but only on Sundays do they have this added open market with different booths and vendors. Some very unique ideas, ceramics, jewelry , artwork and tshirts not typical of the souvenir shirts that you will find everywhere. The Sunday market opens at 10am and it’s best to be there just before it opens, before it may get crowded! It’s such a great time! Highly recommend visiting. So happy we didn’t miss it!Visited January 2023Travelled with friendsWritten January 21, 2023
- Sandra GPickering, United Kingdom55 contributionsNice place.Brilliant place, full of quirky shops and cafés. I was lucky enough to pick up a lovely vintage cape, my fiance was thrilled to get some vinyl in the bookshop that he's been looking for. It is quite hard to find from the train station and the underpass is a little 'interesting' but the place is worth the effort to get there.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten January 23, 2023
- wunderlastSeattle, Washington226 contributionsHip!My husband and I stopped by LX Factory a couple of hours before a dinner reservation. It was worth a stop since we were in the area. There were many interesting looking eateries and shops, but bc it was a little late in the day, we missed out on a lot of shops. I don’t know that we would have found it as worthwhile if we went to the area just to visit.Visited November 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten February 1, 2023

Bookshop with old printing press inside quirky. Toilets leave a bit to be desired (and too few of them) but very glad we took the time to visit.Visited April 2023Written April 14, 2023

A real cliché. Overpriced food and drinks, same fare as you would find anywhere. Manufactured items for evaluated prices. Became a touristy area with prices to match. Maybe it is different in the summer, otherwise I do not know why it has such a high rating.

Went on a Sunday morning when the guide book said a flea market is held. We expected there to be more "junky" stalls but it seemed like a normal market and not very big. Had a drink at one of the bigger bars and yet it did not have its own toilet facilities and the only one available was the general one which is best avoided.

How many cities, including mine, have empty and abandoned factory complexes, only the local government has no ear for such projects? you can "get lost" in these spaces for at least a few hours when it's a nice day or evening. Open a lot of small restaurants of all kinds from sushi, burgers, Mexican, fish, local, craft beer and some small shops, tattoo, massage, various coffee bars, cakes, wineries, street food, galleries, happy hours, cocktails, hostel, live music ...very original and good vibe and recommended to visit when you are there.

This old warehouse and industrial area has been reclaimed years ago and turned into an eating, drinking, and shopping mecca. You can get here easily on the tram. My favorite part is the excellent and very cool book store. But I also had a good cold drink at a nice spot. Can be very busy and crowded especially on the weekend.

There were a few restaurants, but most of the shops were empty/vacant. It wasn't worth the cab out there.

Fun, creative and relaxed atmosphere. A good lunch - there’s something for everyone - and finding comfy and stylish vegan boots at the NAE store :-)

This place seemed smaller than we were expecting. Not all shops were open when we visited on a Wednesday. A few good shops (e.g. Origami one) and bars but not worth a visit if you are on a busy schedule.

Portugal is very inexpensive, in general. I'm thinking you would spend maybe 40 euros for an expensive meal (please note that I'm a New Yorker and "inexpensive" might mean something different to people from other countries). A note: stick to fish when you can. You'll be much happier.

We're a group of 12 people travelling there in September, is it easy to find seating to eat for 12 people? And can you book a table at any of the restaurants?

There is so much choice...No harm in letting people eat what they want and making a plan to meet on the roof top bar, everyone wins...including the vegans
